I remember playing this game with my friends and unlocking all the characters, goddamn that was tedious. You basically had to accumulate points by fighting to unlock stuff. However, because of the way points are rewarded excellent fights give you garbage amount of points, so in order to maximize the amount of points per fight we choose a character with a fast ultra for P1 and just mashed the ultra against a stationary P2.

And you know what's the best part? When you finally unlock the extra hidden character (Lars from Tekken 6), you find him to be completely worthless.

Regarding teleports, they aren't as broken as you think. Doing a teleport costs a considerable amount of meter, which you really need in this game. Spam teleports and suddenly you're out of meter and soon guard-broken.

Regarding 80% of the cast being trash, that's really not true. Almost every character has That Annoying Move that they can spam, except maybe wolf boy whatever his name.

Do you plan to add stuff to the backgrounds (people, cars passing by, planes, birds, etc.)?

The desolate look is nice for the lab stage, but I think the other stages would look better with some activity in the background.

Also, the shadows in the bridge/dock stage look weird, but I'm sure the art guys already know.

Speaking of KoF XIII and how much rear end it kicks, check this video out:
http://www.gameinformer.com/games/k...spx?PageIndex=2

Checkout 19:50 in particular. THIS, is how you do a color edit mode.

E: For those who don't have patience or at work:
The characters regions are separate, and you can assign colors individually to each one (e.g. hair, cap, pants color1, pants color2, etc...).

However, you can't choose any color freely. You have preset colors, and you unlock more colors during the course of the game.

Not really, it's just supposed to look cool I guess. KOF2k2UM seems to do the same thing and it's even more annoying in that.

I'm not sure about KOF2k2UM, but in some KoFs you can cancel guard into a roll at the cost of meter. So in some games the delay is there to give a chance to react, since a fireball hit is usually one active frame only and you can't really time a guard roll cancel out of that.

Workaday Wizard

Gwyrgyn Blood posted:

"Active Frame" describes an active attack, not hitstun or guardstun. The hitstun and guardstun on a fireball is significantly longer than a single frame. Even if it weren't a whole lot, there's also hit pause that gives you even longer to input the GC.

Also like Snicker-Snack said, it's only on hit. :I

It's just there to look cool I guess, but it ends up screwing with your input. It makes certain combos a lot harder than they should be because you basically have to wait for the slowdown to end before you start inputting the next move. In 2k2 that is, not sure how it works in SF2.

I actually meant the frames of the fireball dealing damage after collision (regular fireballs only deal damage for one frame IIRC), but I forgot that you guard cancel during hitstun and not necessarily while being hit

Personally, I want the hitstop and slowdown to stay. Mainly because they give attacks impact and paradoxically make the fight feel smooth.
People call MK's animation stiff when it really not different from any other fighting game because it doesn't have hitstop.

They were on sale here for $20 and I missed out on it. :( Anyway, no issues with quality or anything (other than the shittiness of stock MadCatz parts), it's pretty much the same as other SE sticks, except that it's a Wii stick. In fact, I think the stick uses Omron microswitches (the same one's found in a Sanwa JLF).

I don't know anything about the Wii to whatever converters, so I can't speak about that. But basically it's good, but you'd have to spend extra anyway for a converter or a PCB replacement, so you'd probably be better off buying a BrawlStick for your system of choice.

I'm playing on PC and PS3. Both can accept standard USB joysticks, so unless the converter introduces latency I should be fine.

The tvc stick + converter in FSLink's post cost me $50.52 and I can use them with Wii, PC, and PS3 (thank you Sony for implementing standard USB joysticks).

I also have Wii collecting dust. Are there any fighting games on that?
