I'm amazed they're still around. I'm missing out on newer metal. I usually just listen to the older stuff because of memories. Plus, I'm 45.

I dunno, the new single had some pretty tasty lead work imo.

Probably won't get another ripper like the beginning of "Behind the Blood" again, but the overall vibe is still there.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

also yeah, re: drone, i listen to a lot of drone when i need to focus. its heavy, often sounds cool and usually no vocals.

I never even really listen to their recordings but I see them every chance I get. They played at the Metropolitan opera house recently for $5 tickets, it was amazing. I tell so many people they should just go, it doesn’t matter if they think they’re into the music, if they’re interested in their own anatomy it’s worth it

Yeah, same. But then again, most of their recent stuff starts off with 'eh, yeah its ok I guess' but then gets stuck in my head for days. New papa is cool because we can see his mouth and emotes which is interesting. Not a fan of the ghouls and the top hat thing, seems very halloween shop, but never mind. The production on the two new songs is great though, very open and you can hear everything very clearly. Bring on Skeleta, I'm always excited for new Ghost.

I've had more time with Satanized so it's hard to say which I prefer but I really dig them both.
The thing about Impera and Skeleta to perhaps a bigger degree is there's a pretty clear line in the bits where it's Tobias' guitar skill level and Frederik from Opeth coming in and playing the tricky lead/solo. The solos in Twenties and Griftwood in particular on Impera are rather hard to play. Everything before Impera is a time where Tobias was writing to his own guitar skill level. That obviously affects the overall vibe of the music a bit too.

I'm not a huge fan of any of them individually but that's a really diverse lineup and I have reason to believe it would be a great show.

If you like Dying Fetus you’ll probably like Vomit Forth. Ne Obliviscaris are also great and have a good live show but they seem out of place on that line up. Very proggy.

Undeath are pretty sick, and I could see them being a good live act. Ne Obliviscaris is relatively new to me (only bothered to listen to them for the first time for their new album last year), but I could see them being fun live. They do seem a list out of place on this list like the poster above mentioned.
