henpod posted:Went to go see Till Lindemann's solo band the other night, and, wow...The music itself was pretty Rammsteiny and easy to enjoy and nod to, but the performance itself. I mean, scantily clad women on stripper polls, guys in gimp masks, huge screen at the back with vaginas, clit rings, pills flying out of asses and all sorts of weird poo poo. It was really gratuitous and depraved as you'd expect seeing Rammstein and Till videos in general. Would absolutely recommend. I can't imagine how many times Till has ejaculated in his life. I saw them last year and I went in not knowing his solo stuff and not knowing what to expect. I liked it more than I expected to. I hadn't realized it had started as a collaboration with Peter Tägtgren, and I also didn't know Danny Lohner was the bassist.

My favorite Scott Ian thing is his collaboration with Brian Posehn on Grandpa Metal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IL_TbdT4hbY

Old Aborted: Engineering the Dead New Aborted: Global Flatline (The Origin of Disease goes HÄRD) Every six months or so I’ll queue up Archspire and go “WOW” and then 2 songs later I’m bored senseless

Was Archspire the band that made a really gory video about them being experimented on, then posted a follow up where they had their moms watch the video and react to it? Edit: ended up having some down time at gym (dungeon Synth is bad lifting music), so found it: Archspire Moms React To Sons' Gory Music Video

Tub Squirrel posted:I haven't seen this but yeah that sure sounds like Archspire Yup! Their "search for a drummer" videos are a lot of fun if you've been in a band and it's just sitting on a couch with your friends making jokes and saying dumb poo poo, which is 90% of it

secondhand dog posted:I liked their first couple albums for being fun metallic hardcore and didn't mind the album with this song too much, but holy poo poo, the album they put out this year was offensively bad. Jesse Leach feature in TYOOL 2025 There have been so many instances where a band just went hard left into wtf territory and totally lost the plot. I get it. Luckily, there's a lot of other music left out there for us to absorb.

The first one that I listened to a lot was probably Strychnine.213 but their older stuff has some gems as well. I think it has a lot of the more modern sound they have on albums probably started on that album or on Slaughter & Apparatus which was one album earlier.

Archspire are a cool band because they're one of the only tech death bands to give me a feeling that kind of comes close to the same feeling I got listening to Origin's Antithesis for the first time back in high school.

They were filming at what was previously a food market on SE Division for a Red Fang video and they had him behind the counter for the shot. It's right near the beginning of their Wires video. The shop owner told me one of the band members lives in the neighborhood and was a regular so they wanted a scene in there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQPfQvLIseA (that spot they were in across the street is now a spa and nail salon) Catastrophe fucked around with this message at 05:22 on Dec 11, 2025 |

I didn't see it already posted here but I'm glad to see this band still going hard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxelfxGa2oo Firmly cemented in my top 3 favorite bands. (e: also, Jacob Bannon was such a soft-spoken, lovely dude in person despite sounding like a panicked caged animal wanting to rip the rafters out of the roof in some songs) Catastrophe fucked around with this message at 05:33 on Dec 11, 2025 |

Just gonna kinda empty quote this. Literally the same Origin album got me to really give tech death a go.
