I can dig it, this is the type of aggression I want from power metal. It does sound almost exactly like S/T era wintersun, which is a good thing in my opinion

I found this through some promos, they're Indian and they're really angry.

Musically it's a little generic, but the song titles are on point.

Yeah. Brittney Slayes explained in the band's Discord that the album's background story is a continuation from Apex, and it literally begins with the immortal main character waking up on a space ship. :allears:

It took a few spins before I warmed up to the new song, but I'm loving it. The added synths are cool.

Yeahh...I know it need to give it more time, but I don't find it quite as interesting a listen as the previous two albums and can't help but feel a little disappointed. Also, it's kinda short..especially for a more 'prog' album. If you liked their heavy side, this one might disappoint you a bit. It meanders and doesn't have that dark edge as much. However, once I stop comparing it to mayhem in blue (which is awesome) and listen to it on its own merits, it's still cool. I just need to give it more listens, which I look forward to.

Thanks for mentioning this. I meant to check it out but only gave it a very cursory listen. Am I right in assuming they backed off the atonality on this one? I think that would be an interesting direction for them to take and was pretty excited by the little I heard.

It's more melodic than their previous releases if that's what you mean but it's certainly far from melodeath

Einherjer have played a bunch of times at Midgardsblot, which is organized by an openly anti-fascist heathenry group. They kick people from the festival grounds for heiling or wearing nazi poo poo.

E: Also, Einherjer is associated with Enslaved, who are very much not nazis AFAIK.

Never heard anything of the sort about them. (There's not that many nazi types in the Norwegian metal scene, really. Got a couple of high profile cases back in the early 90s but even then it was a small fringe and a few immature trolls; the dudes that are left from those days are mostly just into playing music and drinking beer.)

We certainly don't have anything like the kind of infestation they have in some Eastern European countries (Slavic Nazis, wtf).

New Lamb of God sounds like Lamb of God. It's fine / OK. For some reason I put on the last track first and Spotify continued to the previous album and it sounded exactly the same, so I didn't even notice the song changed, let alone the album.

Skeletal Remains new album is coming out in September with the new line up (drummer and guitarist) - hopefully sound hasn't changed too much. I feel they were really hitting their groove and gonna be HUGE then this happens.

quote:

Skeletal Remains announce September release date of new album “The Entombment Of Chaos”!

Two years and countless gigs and tours later, Californian death metal act SKELETAL REMAINS are proud to present the successor to 2018’s much-lauded “Devouring Mortality”. On September 11th, 2020, the band will release “The Entombment Of Chaos”, their fourth and most accomplished studio album to date, on Century Media Records worldwide.

The band comments:
“We chose to work with Dan Seagrave along with Dan Swanö once again for the artwork and mixing/mastering of the album as we were very satisfied with the work they both did on our last record. This time around there are a few more songs on seven-string guitar than the last album, making it an overall heavier sounding record. We also wanted to incorporate more aggression and brutality this time around to give the album that extreme edge it needed to top our last three releases. In addition to that, we brought in our good friend Charlie Koryn (Funebrarum, Ascended Dead) on drums to add his own pummeling sound into the mix giving us an end result we’re all extremely proud of. We cannot wait to share it with all fans of Death Metal!”

The album will be released as Gatefold LP plus CD, Limited Edition Digipak CD with patch, jewelcase CD and digital album. It will include the following tracks:
1. Cosmic Chasm (Intro)
2. Illusive Divinity
3. Congregation Of Flesh
4. Synthetic Impulse
5. Tombs Of Chaos
6. Enshrined In Agony (Instrumental)
7. Dissectasy
8. Torturous Ways To Obliteration
9. Eternal Hatred
10. Unfurling The Casket
Bonus track:
11. Stench Of Paradise Burning (DISINCARNATE cover)
