So I got into Immolation back when their newest album, Atonement came out and people in this thread were talking it up. That album does indeed rule. Like every drat song is good, and I have probably listened to that album like 100 times. What album of theirs do I go to next?

Also I am going to see Cannibal Corpse on Tuesday. I've never been super into them and have really only listened to the Chris Barnes era stuff(mainly the Bleeding). They are still solid live right? My friend's band is opening so I am really going for that, but I figure it will be a decent show.

If you've never seen them you should definitely go bc they have their show down to a science and it's insanely fun. But more than once is a waste of $$ unless youre a superfan bc its the same thing everytime.

Yes.

So I just listened to this album on Spotify, and while overall it's not as much BT worship as this track, I find that it loving rules. Great slab of black/death with some sludge sprinkled on top here and there.

Haven't dealt with them but at this point I would probably just put in a claim.
Speaking of, I finally put in claims against AMM :toot: To celebrate I ordered a couple records from Those Opposed, who are always prompt and carry some of the best french meloblack in the game.

Edit: Myke C-Town put out a video yesterday about the AMM situation. I watched it with my girlfriend who I've been keeping up to date on everything that's been going on but apparently she thought I was exaggerating/being unreasonable before because when she watched Myke explain everything she was in a constant state of "WHAT, THEY DID WHAT? HOW DID THEY THINK THEY WOULD GET AWAY WITH THIS?"

Cannibal Corpse was loving awesome live.

I ended up shirtless in the pit for the end part of I Cum Blood/Stripped, Raped and Strangled/Hammer Smashed Face.

Best show ever.

Also thanks for the Immolation recommendations.

Hate Eternal(one of the openers) was pretty cool too.

Cannibal Corpse, no matter how "mainstream" or "intro to death metal" they are, always put on a good show. They're easily one of my favorite bands live. There's some bands that are good live, there's some that are best in the studio, and Cannibal Corpse go up there with SOD and Putrid Pile to fit in that category.

AOTY lists are great! These are the top 5 albums for me that are above and beyond anything else released, maybe after going through my ratings a bit more I can find a top 10 or beyond:

Aorlhac - L'espirit des vents, french melodic black metal
Bog Wraith - Omen, blackened deathcore
Khemmis - Desolation, doom metal leaning more towards trad
Massive Retaliation - Arms of the War God, war metal leaning more towards death
Spectral Wound - Infernal Decadence, black metal in the vein of Sargeist

I'll give it a little more time before making my own AOTY list, but at this time I will say that 2018 has been loving insane for good releases.
There's a lot of good stuff in my list of saved albums on Spotify that I just haven't been able to give a fair shake to, because there's been so much even better stuff vying for my attention.
Also stuff that I listened to for a good bit for a short while, and then almost forgot about because other stuff kept coming up.
