DroneRiff posted:This is some really good stuff and I totally agree, especially in power metal, I want big riffy guitar work. You don't have to Malmsteen all over the place (though I'm personally all for that), but I want those loving riffs. And now to go back down the Japanese power metal rabbit hole. Lovebites are a lot of fun, recently went on a bit of a japanese metal phase myself and this was my favourite thing to come out of it, especially if you love some slap bass in your progressive thrash https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-GxOfQHp3I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caxCV9jov6g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQ8iO9_Qcxo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CegMlksWujM

Quantum of Phallus posted:Deconstruction is such a good album, it's almost like a hip-hop album in the way it uses so many guest vocalists and I wish more metal albums did the same Remember Probot? I was so excited to hear that as a teenager and was just kinda like "meh" once I heard it.

GreenBuckanneer posted:Yeah I mean like Varg is a piece of poo poo but I feel like you kind of just have to detach the creator from the creation. I wouldn't buy anything from him now but when I was a kid, I just didn't know. I've been getting back in to metal recently and went to listen to some Malevolent Creation because I remember enjoying it as a teenager (around '04), did a little digging now and jesus loving christ

At least they're all in a row. I don't mind the long tracks but the placement in Book of Souls is so awkward that you just kind of forget entire sections of the album by the time you get to the end, in this instance you can kind of treat it like two halves of an album.

Said thread included a SoundCloud link to a diss track about the other posters on that forum. you gotta post the link come on
