I just saw Blind Guardian in Melbourne. They were loving awesome.

I am currently trying to figure a way into Valhalla. WHO WANTS TO COME WITH ME?!

Blind Guardian's Battlefield is amazing. I have yet to find any other songs that I really like though.

So what do people think of Disturbed?
And I take it that nobody even knows who Volbeat are? (Danish band)

Corroded are really good too. Let me post some examples.

Seems like most of you guys are into the heavier stuff so I doubt anyone will like Volbeat since it is rather different. They sort of have an 50s vibe or whatever you call it. Inspired by Elvis and whatnot. But they do have some heavier stuff too.

Here's a more "rough" song made by Volbeat as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxAg3UReToQ

I do like some heavier stuff like The Haunted but there aren't that many I reckon.

Hence why I came here, to find new favorites!

re: blind guardian - this, which I think I found in the related videos on a clip linked in the previous thread, is what got me started with BG. After seeing that video, I went out to the record store with the intention of buying whichever album it was that had that song on it (Follow the Blind). I have since bought pretty much everything else they've released. It's all good.

Torabi - most "real" metal people (which is to say metal snobs, which are about half a step above hipsters imo) despise Disturbed, and, for that matter all nu-metal bands. I like their first three albums quite a bit myself, but they've gone downhill lately. Hopefully this "extended hiatus" they're going on after this tour will inject some new life into the band. Volbeat's not bad, but they're nothing really special either, at least to my ears.

I actually loved Asylum but I sure hope the extended hiatus is not another word for splitting up since I personally like them a lot.

I think Volbeat rules. But yeah they're definitely not that heavy.

Yeah, only a few of their songs. But that is what I like about them. They tend to do a little bit of both.

Volbeat is basically just metalized rockabilly. It can be fun to listen to (and for a while they got a ton of airplay here in denmark mostly with this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q2NtjoYj_U and partly because it also featured the leadsinger of a fairly popular danish post-punk band) but ultimately there isn't really a lot to it.

The vocalist used to be in Dominus which was a really solid death metal band and he even took the name from their album which was called "Vol. Beat".

So that is what it is called, Rockabilly. Been trying to figure out the name.
Personally, they are my favorite band due to their um.. rockabilly-ness. I also like songs that sort of have a story to them and Volbeat even link several songs together making a longer story. Which is nice.
