Hey guys, haven't posted here in a while but better late than never. I just wanted to throw out some bands from my local scene, Wilmington NC, aka the Cape Fear region (Home of Weedeater, Sourvein, ASG). The new crop of heavy bands here isn't extreme metal centric, and somewhat surprisingly, there haven't really been any sludge bands coming up. I guess Weedeater just casts a pretty big shadow here. The style in the up and comers is more of a throwback to the 70s and early 80s with a lot of hard rock influence. That might send some of you running away screaming but others might be into it! This isn't intended to be an advertisement, I just think this a great, unique little scene in the wonderful world of Southern US heavy metal and I wanted to rep it a little. Mortal Man: Doom/Stoner concept band based around a narrative about the rise and fall of Mortal Man and the Champion of Forever. Sounds kind of weird but the narrative concept is done very well, and they have great riffs and an awesome singer. http://soundcloud.com/mortal-man Salvacion: Traditional Metal/Hard Rock band, throwback to the 70s and early 80s. Think Rainbow, Scorpions, Priest, Di'anno era-Maiden. http://www.reverbnation.com/salvacionrocks Children of the Reptile(yes this is my band, but we're good! Honest!): Traditional Heavy Metal with some southern rock, bay area thrash, and progressive moments. http://www.reverbnation.com/childrenofthereptile Atolla: Pretty new band here, has a definite upbeat stoner vibe. (Think along the lines of the Sword, Torche) Their recordings aren't professional and they don't have a singer, but goddamn, they've got some amazing riffs. http://www.reverbnation.com/Atolla

Morbid Florist posted:I've got a motorhead tattoo, but motorhead is an institution. yeah, most band tats: bad idea. some legendary bands are beyond reproach, though. i'm getting a Maiden tat soon, and there's no problems with that.

Hey guys. I haven't posted here in like forever and as you might guess, I'm back because I need something from you. Honesty is good. My band put out an album and I think you'll like it if you're into Slough Feg, Manilla Road, or obvious stuff like Iron Maiden. Lots of guitar harmonies with a balance of heavy and melodic stuff. Think late 70s/early 80s metal before everything was super defined. (but we are still influenced by modern stuff as well) The link below takes you to bandcamp. You can listen to the whole thing there and buy it for 7 bucks if you like it that much. Either way, effluvious praise welcomed and harsh criticism tolerated. Yeah the vid was unsolicited and a friend made it but a lot of people seemed to like it so we posted it a few places haha Do Not Resuscitate posted:This is really loving good. Welp, last time I actually posted in MetalThread (still read it once a week or so) was like three years ago, which was the last time my sluggish band released music. Well guess what idiots, I'm back to push some more music on you. I'm in Children of the Reptile, we're from NC, and we just put out a new EP, called "The Four Weapons EP". Think Manilla Road meets Iron Maiden with a lot of Slough Feg thrown in for good measure. My rear end in a top hat way to describe us is "a contemporary take on traditional heavy metal." Lots of twin guitar leads, mostly clean singing. (although I switch to blackened growling when the music calls for it) If you're interested, have a listen. If you're turned on, maybe consider downloading it, it's only 5 bucks, runs about 23 minutes. If you REALLLLY like it, you can also follow the link on our bandcamp to our first album, which is a full length. Oh, and check out this loving album art by Andrew Ohlmann. If this doesn't sell it, then, well, go gently caress yourself! Thanks for indulging my sales pitch guys, now I will fade back into the abyss. i think the new metallica is a blast, personally. https://cotr.bandcamp.com/album/the-four-weapons-ep https://cotr.bandcamp.com/album/the-four-weapons-ep
