Everyone asking Dave about why a match has the stars it has is missing that he doesn't grade with a rubric. His entire rating system is pretty much whatever his gut tells him. It's so haphazard which makes it goofy how seriously people take it.

I pay more attention to Dave’s taste in wrestling than say Seth Rollins. That said he’s really into Bucks and Omega and I’m not. It’s whatever, there’s plenty of wrestling to enjoy. If you have to chase someone down to tell them their opinion sucks, that says a lot about you doesn’t it?

I think there are a lot of Goldberg squashes that are five star matches because they accomplished exactly what they meant to in the best way possible, the crowd loving loved them, they were fun as all gently caress and they got more done with a minute and 30 seconds than most 35 minute back-and-forths, but I don't have a newsletter people respect so I don't have to defend that opinion on Twitter all day.

Dave's pretty open about the fact that crowd reaction factors into the decision as does build. It's not just "you wrestled a good match," so when wrestlers get bent out of shape about it it's pretty LOL.
