Did you give Shar-teel that kit, or did the BWP? I feel like it's a bad kit for her, as her 17 dex and ability to dual to rogue is kind of her only draw in the main game.

Minsc steals the spotlight a lot in BG2, but he does so while being genuinely funny. My personal favorite is "I trust those who prey on children no further than I can throw them. ...Even if I can throw them pretty far. And throw them I shall!"

1. Yes, no stipulation (And can you give Imoen and Minsc their BG1 portraits, as well, or was there already a vote on this? It's not like we wouldn't see their BG2 portraits in BG2, anyway, and having the sillier portraits gives more of the BG1 experience)
2. No

Characters like Dak'kon or Ravel from Torment did a much better job of communicating their otherness without their text boxes becoming a pain in the rear end to parse (although that game also got a bit lazy at times, see: Annah's oirish).

Dak'kon and Ravel are also absolutely amazing characters on their own, which probably contributes to their otherness being enjoyable. Also, I'm pretty sure Annah's supposed to be Scottish, bro (I have no idea what, if any, difference it makes).

Pretty sure secondary stat requirements for specialist mages weren't implemented in Baldur's Gate. But I could be wrong.

They are. It doesn't say what the requirements are in the game, but they're there. For example, Imoen can only dual class to mage and conjurer, because she has whatever stat conjurers need (Dex? I have no idea).

Yeslick's mod content is by far my favorite in this LP. They give him exactly the personality I imagine he should have, and they didn't make NPCs constantly react or act unnaturally to him to make him look better.

Eh, aligment works in the system it's in. It's not meant to be applicable to real life.

Also LN is obvs best alignment.

bladedsmoke posted:

The funny thing about alignments is that most of the worst people in real-world history thought of themselves as being Good. Yet, in the world of Baldur's Gate, you can *detect* alignments with a low-level spell. How does a self-righteous priest who thinks that all heathens should be tortured to death for the "good" of society react when told that he's actually Lawful Evil? Does he deny the validity of the spell, which might well have been cast by a cleric of his own faith?

Obviously he... starts a long debate about how bogus the alignment system is! :tinfoil:

LG: Obey the rules and make sure everyone else does.
LN: Obey the rules and tattle on people who don't. (This is one of the more boring alignments to play)

LE: Twist the rules to your own purposes.

NG: The laws are just a guideline but probably should be followed by most.

TN: Don't give a drat about anything.
NE: Mercenary

CG: Do nefarious things for the greater good (probably the most fun alignment in a good setting).
CN: Rebel against authority.
CE: Kill things.

No no no. Lawful should not be read as "literally obeys the law." It's all about having principles. Which usually means obeying the law, but it sure does not have to.

LN is a fun alignment to roleplay because it means you put principles before morals. If you're not playing it as some stick-in-the-mud warrior monk, you're not doing it right.

The implications of that ending are amazing. Syvishtar basically acknowledged that they're just cannon fodder to him, left them all in a pocket dimension to chew on it, and then confronted Sarevok by saying he'd be a much better Lord of Murder.

They all feared it was coming. Firebead had told them to stay their hand, and they had listened. The man knew Gorion better than anyone, and still had faith that Syvishtar had been brought up right. Minsc was the first to see it, and Bjornin and Firebead were last. There was no convincing Xan or Imoen. Finch never saw it. Kagain saw only profit in staying in Syvishtar's good graces, and Kivan said that any Lord of Murder who laid the ground floor with Tazok was alright with him. Jaheira refused to betray Gorion's ward, and Gavin ended up getting cold feet at the eleventh hour. There were others who refused, but whether it was from loyalty or cowardice is hard to say.

They had all agreed to come slay the Bhaalspawn who had been embracing his father's essence and was threatening the entire Sword Coast, if not more, with death and destruction. Syvishtar is throwing fireballs at his allies again, more callously than ever before. He is facing his only known equal in the world, and there may never be another opportunity to do this. Whatever good there was in Syvishtar just wasn't enough to overcome his nature.

The Lord of Murder shall perish, but in his doom he shall spawn a score of mortal progeny. Chaos will be sewn from their passage. So sayeth the wise Alaundo.

I'm kinda rooting for the first ending still for this reason, actually. Nearly all character interaction we've seen in this LP has been mod content, but BG2 has a lot of non-mod context for the original NPCs. With characters like Minsc and Edwin out of the way, we make room for some of the real mod content like Saerileth. :unsmigghh:

In the vanilla game, Imoen (minor BG2 opening spoilers) is wearing an unremovable belt item that makes it impossible for her HP to get below 1, like Sir Billybob's invisible ring. If her HP gets that low, she's scripted to leave the party and dungeon, and she'll show up again for that cutscene where she's needed. I have no idea the IWD mod (or others, for that matter) deal with this.
