Looking at the latest FF13-2 info makes me more and more hopeful for the game. It looks like you'll be doing some time traveling, and seeing the same areas in different time periods. Also there are QTEs in battles, which by themselves I am not so excited about, but they appear to be branching QTEs, which I don't see enough of in games.

edit: the gate interface, which is cross shaped (or XMB shaped?) with locations running horizontally and time period running vertically, or is it the other way around? You need some kind of key items to unlock areas/time periods I guess.

This sounds radically different from the first game and it actually makes me curious.

They're using the game engine from the first game right? (but with a new battle system and all). The last game was gorgeous and it was a little sad they developed so many unique and beautiful assets only to make a corridor linking them all.

It makes me think they really dicked around with the first game and when they had to release the game, they cobbled together something from what they had. But this? This sounds more of a labor of love than the first FF13 was.

Edit: Can we get a 13-2 thread? I thought this game would benefit from one, and the main focus can be convincing people it's not the same as the first game and to turn people back into Final Fantasy after the disaster than 13 was.

Yeah, that is seriously what I am thinking too. From interviews right after 13's release it is clear that they had the marketing people shouting a billion contradictory messages at them and it seriously rattled their brains and 13 is the result. Maybe now though they have calmed down a bit and can make a proper game.

Also, combined with FF14 and they're having lots of financial issues, Squarenix is likely sitting down and going: Okay, let's get back to our roots, and have some very interesting changes and think from a GAMERS perspective.

They know they need a real game this time, and while they're using the Final Fantasy name, I hope they now realize it's not enough to carry it.

(also, I'm sure they've spent a fuckton of money on R+D for the game engine and they'll be damned if they use it for only 1 game, hence FF13-2 and maybe FF13-3.)

Oh I also got a full PSmove, 2 wands, navi, spare DS3, and a second copy of uncharted 2 for like $130, so I kind of need more move titles to fill my library.

I guess we've talked about this in this thread before, but an ideal situation is when the game delivers you story stuff while you are playing. I hope for a future where games never have a period of time where you just set your controller down and watch. Japanese games have the furthest to go in this regard but a lot of Western games are guilty too.

Sounds like a mix of Uncharted and Demon's Souls.

I mean, you can uncover more of the story if you read stuff like item description and get backstory, but like you mentioned later, they could use scenes like where you climb walls or cruise on a boat to talk/unfold the main story.

Though, isn't the prime example of this: Half Life?

Let's start with the 360 question. Nope. No 360. Never again. I had 2 break down on me over the time i had them ( from launch till late 2007 ). Between that and having to pay for stuff like p2p multiplayer, i flat out quit consoles for a while.

Next question: Exclusives. Im interested in anything i can play on the system. As far as uncharted goes im definitely interested in it.

I have a friend campaigning for me to get Demon Souls / Dark Souls. Im kinda not interested. They sound interesting, but the lack of true multiplayer coop makes me think twice.

Games i like:
Shooters whose lynchpins arent simple 'deathmatch' or military realism.( Example, I love Team Fortress 2, I freaking hate Call of Duty and Battlefield.)
3rd person action games of all kinds.
RPGS: This is an odd one. I love western style rpgs in the vein of stuff like Elder Scrolls. Im not a big fan of JRPGS.
I love arcadey super fast competative racers.
I love fighting games.
I love anything coop. Cooperative gameplay is usually a huge seller for me.

Demon's Souls:
This is easy to pick up for 19.99 or less. If you want to do multiplayer co-op, you can always skype/irc/instant message with someone and organize it so you can join each other's games. It's not that complicated. Also, you can use Demon's Souls as a limitus test for Dark Souls. If you can beat Demon's Souls and still enjoye dit, then get Dark Souls.

As a pointer device, the Move is slightly weaker. The Wii remote basically works like an optical mouse, only instead of bouncing its own infra-red light off the surface below it, it sees the distant dual infra-red dots from the sensor bar.

The Move uses the visual cue of the glowing ball to track its rough position, but the actual pointing stuff is mostly done via gyroscope readings, which is why everything needs calibrating each time you play.

As an actual motion-sensing controller, the Move is probably a step or two above the Wii Motionplus setup, as it can both track the movement of the controller visually, and has a good range of motion sensors to track movement in any direction and facing.

Thanks to you and PSN for clarifying it. I thought since the setup requires a PS Eye camera, it would generally be better than the Wii, but it looks like it comes down to software issues again.

Dark Souls seemed to have been a smashing hit last year (considering the genre) and I mean with more than just the goon crowd.

Also, just from watching the trailer, the graphics seem sort of similar to Dark Souls, and you can tell the gameplay is sort of like Dark Souls and not something like Fable. I wouldn't be surprised if this was developed internally after Demon's Souls and they wanted to have a competing product. I'm sure the difficulty won't live up to what Dark Souls was, but for general gameplay similar to it, and boss fights a little more on the scale of SotC and you get Dragon's Dogma.
