I bought a few bags of chai from a random market stall, and didn't notice until later that one of them was chai with green tea instead of black. I'm usually making chai using the method in this thread: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3488707&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1 but since you're not meant to add boiling water to green tea, how am I supposed to best make it?

I bought some Milky Oolong/Jin Xuan (?) tea yesterday. It's probably a flavoured rather than natural version but I'm not sure how to tell. How long can I keep the leaves for re-brewing before it's not worth it? Oh, and has anyone here tried the various teas from Teapigs? http://www.teapigs.co.uk/ I've ordered a bunch of different teas from them before, and liked them, but was wondering how they really compare in quality to other places.

I've ordered from them three or four times, and they messed up the order two of those times-but sent free tea and a handwritten note each time. I also had a problem with the chai (it tasted odd) and just asked what it could be, they sent two boxes of 100 bags as apology even though I didn't ask for it or complain. Also, my partner once ordered a cheeky set from them as a gift for me, and they wrote a "To (Battle Pigeon), enjoy the tea, love (partner)" without asking for it-so I can definitely recommend their customer service! I've tried most of their tea, the lemon/ginger, super fruit, chili chai, and popcorn are favourites. Agreed about the chai though, it's very subtle. I found if you open up the bags and make it how it's suggested here: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3488707&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1 it tastes stronger.

I don't know about the loose teas, but Teapigs bagged teas are a bit on the pricey side. They are really nice, but for everyday tea, instead of paying say £9.95 (plus shipping) for 50 bags of their English breakfast/everyday brew http://www.teapigs.co.uk/tea/shop_by_category/black/english_breakfast.htm I'd rather get something like Clipper tea, £12.00 for 480 bags here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Clipper-Fai...rds=clipper+tea

For any UKers, I recently discovered while looking for cheaper everyday alternatives to teapigs chai teabags that Tesco actually make some decent bags themselves. It's the Tesco finest brand, but it's only £1.50 for 50 teabags, there's no added flavourings/etc and the actual taste is pretty nice, especially for what it is. http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=279335332 There's also a vanilla chai version, but it has added flavourings and I haven't tried it yet. Same price though: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=279343685

Can anyone recommend a nice flask with a loose tea infuser? Catch is, I'd like it to be sent to a UK address and would rather not pay for international shipping, so somewhere like amazon.com is out. Also, how long can infused oolong be kept around for using again before it should just be thrown out?

Goddamn posted:amazon.co.uk carries a fair amount of tea infusers for free or small shipping, though I have no clue how good their overall prices are. I mean more like a Thermos style flask with a built in infuser, if there is such, rather than a separate one. Though I could always just go that route, I guess, would just have to reach in to the tea to pull it out.

Oh, thanks! There's not much choice on Amazon, but now I know what to look for. This looks kind of nice: http://www.amazon.co.uk/MIU-COLOR-Portable-Borosilicate-Strainer/dp/B00DE8E8BM/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1391467195&sr=8-7&keywords=tea+tumbler

While at a random market last weekend, there was a tiny little stall selling a few various kinds of teas, so went to have a look. Picked up some sencha with kiwi/orange, loose black with chocolate/truffle flavour, and a loose black with caramel. Since it's just some random stall it's probably cheap and/or low quality but drat if that caramel tea isn't delicious. It smells amazing too. The other two aren't so great-there doesn't seem to be much flavour of the extra things in either of them, if any. Maybe I'm just bad at brewing though (probably) ThatOneGuy posted:The chai vendor on SA Mart is still around. And he posts pretty much daily with updates. Can't wait until I've worked through enough of the chai that's already here (over 350-400 bags of various kinds, plus a bunch of loose mixes...) and can justify getting some of this-I only remember one or two negative reviews throughout the whole thread.

I was surprised at the above post, since the tea I got as a gift was really nice, but it turns out it's from a company called Teance not Teavana. In which case, let me recommend the one I had, especially to Neimat: http://www.teance.com/Immortal-Peach-Hand-Tied-Jasmine-p/gc121.htm Is Teance known for being any good? It isn't listed in the OP.

Nah, I meant it more in the sense of "it's not in the OP so I couldn't get any info or opinions about it at a glance". Since you're about and it isn't there already, can I make the suggestion to include Clipper teas under the UK section? http://www.clipper-teas.com/ Really nice teas, wide variety, also do hot chocolate etc. These are my go-to for everyday black tea bags, and we have loads of their lemon and ginger too.

I was gifted some ginseng oolong and it feels like trying to brew gravel from an aquarium. The taste is a bit strange but pretty good, with an odd floral after taste. Of oolong teas, I've also had tung-ting (this one specifically: http://www.teapigs.co.uk/tea/shop_by_category/all_tea/tung_ting_oolong_tea.htm ) and milky oolong from two different places. The milky is my favourite but the other was good too. Any recommendations for other kinds of oolong to keep an eye out for?

The US teapigs website is now live: http://www.teapigs.com/ A little costly, but nice for something special. I really like their oolong, their super fruit, and spiced winter red tea.
