Aber offenbar nicht backen.

Fun fact: Some years ago I dated a girl from Dresden. One Christmas she took me to one of the most famous Dresdner Christstollen places at Strizelmarkt and we bought a packaged Stollen as a present for my parents. At home I spotted a note on the package that said: Produziert in unseren Traditionswerk in München. I laughed pretty hard.

Edit: The I was in 2005ish, since 2010 Dresdner Christstollen is a protected origin.and, so I guess it doesn't read that anymore today.

I gravitated towards the Greens, eventually even joining the party itself.

The Linke is a party I grudgingly accept exists, but I've learned enough about DDR-history I can't bring myself to trust a party that was once the SED, a party leading the corrupt state apparatus ...

My old hometown, Nienburg, still demands all original Nienburger Bärentatzen to be made in Nienburg, by Nienburger Bäckern.

Too bad the only Bäckerei with one of the older, traditional recipes is basically hidden like some kind of fairy Märchenpalast, as most Bärentatzen just kind of taste like you'd expect some sort of oversized French biscuit with chocolate coating to taste, but the real ones sold by this one hidden bakery are magical.

I send some to Poland once as a gift for another goon, and they put the package under their Christmas-tree for weeks, unaware that there was food in my gift.

When they opened it, they were pleasantly surprised that that stuff was still good and also really tasty. Real Nienburger Bärentatzen not only taste good, the way they are made means you can put them into your pantry for up to 3 months and they still taste as fresh as on day 1.

The cheap knock-offs from the other bakeries in town can't pull that off, regardless of how many preservatives they put into them. If you don't want to be a tourist, search for the hidden bakery under the great bridge over the connection between Celler Straße and Verdener Straße. The great bridge, not one of the smaller ones.

I once learned a Lithuanian cake recipe that was essentially:
- melt some chocolate
- crumble in some Butterkekse
- maybe add some more fat and sugar?
- let cool into a big old lard disk
- enjoy

I guess it's pretty cold in Lithuania so people like to build some body fat

Not sure what this person is talking about, but he's not completely wrong, e.g. it makes more sense to have maternity leave for mothers than for fathers (although I do think both should have it) and it makes sense to have separate sports leagues for most sports and so on.

So it could have been said by anyone really, but given the awkwardness of the phrasing I vote SPD.

Trick question, it's actually part of a piece by a Catholic nun.

Well in that case she's an idiot.

Catholic dogma is that it is actually not possible to create women priests because the church is not authorized to do so. The reason it's not authorized is because Jesus didn't appoint women as apostles.

Except he actually did so the whole idea is bs

Neither the nun nor her priestly minder agree with that position. Instead they recommend finding joy in the fact that their God has berufenen and women matrimony and that only females may become blessed mothers.

They refer to the same dogma I mentioned, they just agree with it. The bible allows for a variety of opinions on this issue, the church sure doesn't

Happy 40th Birthday to me.
gently caress this poo poo pandemic and especially all the people who can't following safety precautions like don't vacation in Risikogebieten and don't go with drinking and mingling and make it worse for all of us.

I had already relegated myself to having a birthday party with only the GF, my best friend, his wife and my goddaughter and I was fine with it, as they are the only people we meet indoors. But today I had to learn that my colleague, boss, my GF and my best friend have all been scheming behind my back and my friend had booked two plane tickets to Scotland, hotel rooms and a car so him and me could do a surprise 4 day road trip for my birthday, going to whisky distilleries etc.

And it all fell through because of course easy jet cancelled the flight because of the pandemic a month ago and even if they had not Munich is now a risk area and so we couldn't have done it anyway.

Man I am pissed beyond belief right now. If anyone ever complains to me about having to wear a a mask again I don't know what I'll do.

Thanks, we had a nice Vietnamese take-out dinner and self-made cake (Bienenstich) finished off with a glass of whisky so that was nice.

I just feel cheated out of this amazing surprise trip, which is doubly frustrating because I kept to the rules since March and did everything I could to be safe. And then the government allows Wiesn-Ersatzparties, brain dead soccer fans going to Budapest (a known risk area) to watch the FC Bayern play and people vacationing in Risikogebieten in general.
I don't get it, if they keep doing these kind of inconsistent policies, we will never get rid of this poo poo virus.
