Why do you all have to be such dicks to poor fox news? I´m sure it was not meant to be a "factional®" statement. I also want to remind everyone of our great heroes in the bavarian police force. Seven of them were viciously attacked this week by a tiny 23 year old woman(who was handcuffed, restrained and in a police cell at that time) and had to beat her to a pulp in self-defense. As far as disciplinary actions are concerned, I´m sure everything is on the table, from promotions for everyone to a week of unpaid leave. Hurray!  "Der Beamte ist ausgetickt"

Peacekeeping is on of those things that could probably be better handled by a joint EU force(if there will ever be any desire to do more in that direction). There are just not a lot of German interest we could protect with an army. So IMO it always boils down to: "But all the cool kid countries have big armies, they will laugh at us if we don't!"

Being a little self-conscious about nationalism has served the republic so well throughout its history and I really don't see why it needs to change. Just one small example from daily life: Over here, when a university course needs to be in English for foreign students, it will be in English. No arguments. The German students have to be fluent in English by the end of their studies anyway, so suck it up. In comparison, I know some people who went to France for a exchange. They were absolutely shocked about the language attitude there. Some shithead co-workers even refused to talk to them in English because "You need to learn the language at some point, this is for your own good!"& "This is still France!". Yeah, gently caress that. Of course, doing something substantial like de-segregating our 1950's Alabama-style school system would have been nice too, but I think this brilliant idea is enough work for one election cycle. I think my pig is whistling. Has anyone considered that these Muslim children are Germans? Born and raised as Germans with just as much right to be here and have their religion respected as any other German? The Islamic faith IS German. If the story is true, let the schools buy the food that's best for all the children. And anyway, cafeteria food is not some fundamental right, it's a necessary evil that everyone has to cope with through out their entire life. It breaks my loving heart every single day to see what kind of crap they managed to scrape from the gutter this time and how much they are going to charge for it.  Also: Dear German society, you chose to be an immigration society over two generations ago and it turned out to be a fantastic AND irreversible decision. So maybe it's finally time to give this whole identity-crisis schtick a rest after so many years and move on with your life? Thanks.

Munich had a great PEGIDA counter-demonstration on monday evening. According to the police at least 12000 people showed up to drown out the handful of PEGIDA demonstrators.
