I found this hilarious. I picked up an unmarked quest at McCarran to recover a soldier's body from Fiends who have been using it to draw out NCR soldiers so they can snipe them. I killed the Fiends, then had to drag the body north to a small outpost so NCR can recover it. Then suddenly Legion Assassins out of nowhere, they just completely massacre all the NCR guys there. I still got completion for it. I guess NCR will just have a few extra corpses to recover.

This happened to me as well.

Then later in the same playthrough it happened again.

I've only ever used the MF Hyperbreeder Alpha, so I don't know if what I experienced applies to the other recharger weapons and I've never given a recharger weapon to a compa anyway. But the MFHA starts at 0 ammo and counts up, so comps look at it, see 0 ammo and don't use it.

I had an absolute blast with my pacifist run. I took a whole bunch of perks I'd never bother with otherwise and got to enact some really creative solutions to the kill quests.

You can actually turn this around pretty well though, with the recipe to make your own satchel charges (which is just loaded into the workbench, not something you have to find) using common materials and having a ridiculously low explosives requirement for how deadly they are. Makes dealing with all the marked men, deathclaws and tunnelers a little easier, anyway.

I've tried, but they either get avoided because enemies just magic-path around them, I can't get them set in time or they just don't do enough damage to be worth it.

I don't think you actually can blow up Hoover Dam, though? Outside of the secret evil ending to Dead Money, but that hardly counts.

If you're going the Yes Man route and you blow up the Securitron Vault, he'll suggest you blow up the Dam and make it inoperable so the NCR will lose any interest in expanding to the region.

Pacifist Run is amazing. You'll use so many perks you never bothered with before and come up with new and inventive ways to complete quests no sane being would comprehend.

ED-E tends to bug out and randomly get his upgraded blaster anyway, so if you get the armor upgrade you can have both at once.

Also, who hates the boomers? Aside from the beyond thunderdome mural crap, they have a very good post-apocalyptic viewpoint (everyone new is a threat)

Last I checked House ending indicates he has automated factories to produce infinite Securitrons without human assistance. Also he doesn't rely on goodwill, he relies on lying to and using the local population.

My main beef with House is how inept he is. He relies on a person he had shot in the head to actually accomplish his goals. He is not smart, just charismatic and lucky. Undoubtedly his space plans will end the same as the ghouls, only 100 times more catastrophic.

Even Joshua's pacifist friend would be a better leader of people.

I've read plenty of hate for the Boomers on other sites. The hilarious logic of "They call me, the guy in power armor with a plasma caster a savage?! I'll kill them all!"

Gaining strength through struggle is a pretty integral part of fascism. So when Caesar dies and the Legion collapses into chaos as everyone and their dog fights for power that is actually a good thing because whoever comes out on top must be the best candidate for leadership.

You see a version of this way of thinking in the Third Reich where infighting and division were actively encouraged. Like wasn't uncommon for two people or institutions to have the exact same job and responsibilities so they'd have to compete with each other often while being given contradictory orders. Their entire system was set up to let the ruthless succeed which had the downside government was basically just a huge messin a of factions trying to gently caress each other over so they could be the ones to impress Daddy Hitler. Meanwhile Hitler himself slept in every day and ignored any part of of governance that he found boring (everything except war and huge architectural projects).

I wish I could find the source (or even any online evidence) of that story I heard of the luftwaffe raiding one of the army's trains.

All those talented people acting as a single are great (except Danny Trejo) but the problem with New Vegas is that you have like 10 people doing voices for the rest of the world. Bethesda had the same problem up until Fallout 4. Skyrim cast was much bigger than Fallout 3/NV but you still heard a lot of the same people a lot. And as we've just discussed recently in this thread, it's not the same as in something like Witcher 3 where you talk to a lot of cloned peasants and soldiers; FNV gives name and personality to every character you talk to and it's very irritating when NCR ranger is obviously the same person as sleazy con-artist you've just talked to.
