Oh hell, I wasn't talking about Elvis songs. I know that shits too expensive. Or even Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, or Ricky Nelson for that matter (although Dean Martin couldn't have cost less than those guys, Ain't That a Kick in the Head has been in something like a dozen movies in the last 10 years alone) I'm talking about the more obscure rockabilly and 50's rock songs, there are a lot of one hit wonders and just plain forgotton abouts that I can't imagine them not being dirt cheap, or public domain. And there are quite a number of them about 50's science fiction subjects or goofy horror stuff. I could put together a playlist if anyone's looking for a custom radio station, all songs that would fit this game's setting perfectly, but I'm not sure if that falls under filez.
Hence I hope for the next game if they go to Detroit they play some Motown tunes. Though I want to see what happens in the Pitt and Capital Wasteland for the next games.

Is it weird that out of all the characters in charge of the factions, that Legate Lanius is the only guy who I think is pretty cool. The guy is smart, tough, and not really an rear end in a top hat to you.

E: Oh but Hsu is pretty cool though

Also it kind of sucks there was never a DLC that took you into Legion territory where you can see how non slaves live under Caesar's rule.

Like I said, I don't think it's right even if there's a guarantee of success. And no, the slavery is still not justified even if the end result is a vastly better society. I don't mean that the end society should be brought down because it was based on slavery, just that the slavery is still wrong even despite all the good consequences it brought in the future. Future generations may be happier yes, but the misery of the preceding generations is still important and shouldn't be discounted. Just because people lived in the past doesn't mean that they are somehow less deserving of happiness than we are.

Also I thought this would have been a cool idea if you were a pro Legion character. That after accomplishing all the Legion quests and having enough standing with Legion. Caesar offers you to be his heir and if he dies, you could literally become the August to Edward's Julius. Then again you would have to deal with the turmoil of Caesar's generals and advisers trying to take power.

I finally finished the game today. I liked how you could barter-check Lanius. It really fits when you're siding with House. I only wish you could say as much to Oliver when convincing him to get the hell out of the Mojave, considering that it's hinted at throughout the whole drat game that you're practically doing the NCR a favor by stopping their unsustainable growth.

Cass's ending seemed...lackluster. They probably should've written what happens to Rex when House wipes out the Kings, and Lily--why exactly does she still have to take her medicine when they've found a cure for stealth boy madness? There are so many other things that I wish they wrote endings for too, like the Followers of the Apocalypse, any of the casinos, vault 21, and Bitter Springs. Caesar and Lanius weren't even mentioned, and they're supposed to still be alive somewhere by the end of the game. The main game ending didn't seem much longer than the DLCs.

And speaking of the DLCs...

I got to say Lanius is a pretty cool dude, he is not some brute monster, he has some good intelligence and seems like a honorable man.

I don't know whether this was ever thought about or not, but is Caesar's Legion facing the NCR all along the Colorado south from Lake Mead or is their entire invasion force concentrated around the Dam? I ask this because as a military historian and a general sperg I was just curious if there was any serious thought about what the overall borders of NCR or Legion territory would look like on a map.

Also did Caesar leave any sort of governors or officials back in Arizona and New Mexico or is pretty much his whole "government" with him at the Dam?
That has always bugged me, I would assume that Caesar would have handpicked some lesser officials to take business of the cities that he controls. God drat it I hope if they return to Mojave that they take us into Legion territory.

It's interesting how there's a less violent option for just about every boss/major character you have to fight, but some of them it feels so much more appropriate for than others. Legate Lanius? Live by the sword, die by the .308-caliber armor-piercing rifle round.

Really? They've done Mad Science once before so they can never revisit it? Mad Science is at the core of Fallout.

The Northeast gives Bethesda an opportunity to expand their original canon fairly well. The DC Brotherhood give them a familiar faction to latch on to fairly plausibly, and perhaps even develop, while the vague talk of the Institute gives them a nice original major faction with a lot of potential for good Fallout Mad Science.

I think I made a long post earlier where those two factions could make for a pretty interesting contrast- the humanistic technofetishism of Lyon's Brotherhood contrasted with a mad/pragmatic technofetishism that the Institute could have. Maybe the Brotherhood is backwards looking, preserving old technology, but compassionate, while the Institute is forward looking, developing new technology, but ruthlessly. Maybe the DC Brotherhood are building a new nation, NCR style, and running into issues with expansion, particularly in the face of an established and powerful Institute. Or something.

I mean, it's Bethesda's ball to drop, but as a setting it's got as much potential as anything. I'd be quite happy if Fallout 4 was set in the Northeast. (The fact that I live in Massachusetts has nothing to do with this. It's a total coincidence that I think the next Fallout game would be really interesting if it happened to be set in My Back Yard!)

Also, I'm curious as to where you heard these rumors. It's something that's always made sense to me, but I'd be interested if there was anything more concrete than speculation.
