So I take it that come Tuesday, this entire thread is just all going to be spoilers. (not that it isn't to some degree already)

So considering I did pre-order this game I suppose I could post my link for ??? as well. http://goo.gl/ExiR0 Anyway I'm really looking forward to spending some time with this game. I didn't get to play as much Demon's Souls as I wanted to, and this series seems to want a lot of time spent with it.

Is it known exactly what the downside of being hollowed actually is? 'cause otherwise I'll probably play the whole game that way.

Hakkesshu posted:Is it known exactly what the downside of being hollowed actually is? 'cause otherwise I'll probably play the whole game that way. I think mainly it's the fact that you can't call in human/NPC phantoms to help you fight. This makes some of the later boss fights considerably harder.

Seriously, why the gently caress can't I switch my target between enemies with the right stick like I could in Demon's Souls? It only seems to work 1 out of every 10 attempts and it's really making dealing with groups of enemies a lot more difficult than it needs to be since I can't quickly move my target to the guy who is closest.

Fancy equipment or spells, or just some extra lines of dialogue? Also, any idea what the Witch's Ring is for? That was another of the "no known uses" gifts.

Cocks on the Rocks posted:maybe someone can give tips or a faq on how to find what stores in your area are breaking the street date There's not really a science to it. Go to places that are not chains, or do not specialize in selling video games. The idea is that they put them on the shelves because they don't know they are suppose to hold them till Tuesday, or they just don't care. Schwartzcough posted:Any idea what benefit giving this person the Pendant gets you? Fancy equipment or spells, or just some extra lines of dialogue? I think someone mentioned that the Pendant is given to an NPC to gain approval within the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant. You need the witch's ring in order to speak with members of the Chaos Servant covenant, who sell items. Apparently you can find one somewhere so it isn't necessary to start with it.

Is there any clear way to check which covenant I am in? I mean, for one of the NPCs (the guy in the bell tower who handles the book of the guilty) it says "break covenant" instead of "join covenant", so I assume it is his, but he never said which one he was with, don't even remember ever signing on with him. Is there some default covenant you start in?

Although, considering you bought two copies I'm gonna go out on the limb and assume you are going to have a CE waiting for you on Tuesday as well. I'm sadly going to buy both platforms too I think. I'm waiting for a price drop to buy the Xbox one though. I'd rather play on PS3 but I want the Xbox achievements. I have gotten used to simply un-targeting and then re-targeting to grab the nearest enemy. drat, that sucks. Has anyone heard anything about a patch yet. Yeah that's what I've been doing too, when you un-target then target again it always seems to pick the nearest guy, so it's working out okay. I'm just reassured that it's not just happening to me!

This may apply to Demon's too, but does anyone know if Halberds do piercing and slashing damage at the same time, or does only attacks that visually look like they are using the axe part doing slashing damage?

If you go into your options, there's a thing called 'auto targeting,' which you can turn on or off. I saw it on a stream and wasn't sure what it did - maybe de/activating it will make target-swapping more comfortable?

Here's a hint: If you get cursed, don't try to get your souls and humanity back. Just forget them and get the curse fixed first. Because curses stack, so after two curses you have 1/2 of 1/2 of your health left. I think this is pretty much game over for this character.
