Dumb newbie question about tutorial: I'm at the spot where you can traverese the white light and come out above the abyss dragon dude, right next to the "RB while falling for plunge attack" message, but I can't figure out how to perform it on the guy.. Is this just a trick to make me die a bunch? I can't figure out how to jump out and plunge onto him, and suspect I couldn't kill him with it anyway..

It helps if, when you reach the top of the ladder, you sprint halfway into the middle of the tower, then turn, sprint back, and jump at the edge while spamming RB. Don't gently caress around on top of the tower for long because he can jump up with you!

Also, You can kill the Taurus demon with nothing but plunge attacks, but probably won't be able to run fast enough if you're in heavy-ish armor. Just be sure to run halfway across the bridge after hitting him, then roll past and keep sprinting until you reach the ladder

Am I just really bad at lining up back-stabs or can you physically not engage a back-stab against an 'idle' enemy or one otherwise not engaged in combat yet? It seems like you always end up taking a regular swing when you catch something unaware, particularly black knights, allowing them to turn around and whale on you when you were hoping to get the drop on them.

I am still torn on abandoning my horrible attempt at a thief and starting over as a knight, particularly after hearing now that being tanky works better than in Demon Souls.
I'm kind of "meh" on the master key seeing as it doesn't seem to be useful for pretty much anything that you couldn't access with another key from somewhere, but the bandit knife and the leathers the thief start out with are pretty good. I just pumped my endurance (or whatever the stat is that gives more stamina) a bit, and made sure I had 13 STR to wield that winged spear you can get right after the tutorial is done - I kind of prefer the rapier but the superior range is pretty rad, even though it's a tad slow.

I'm rather fond of the Wanderer too, his poo poo is kind of lightweight so you can run and dodge okay and the scimitar rocks.

Hit RB while above an enemy in midair. If the guy's not directly under you though it's a bit dodgy, you need to get a running start and probably leap off the edge as well.

I usually SPAM the button, I was able to successfully plunge onto the Taurus demon 90% of my tries.

The spear right at the start is from a dead body in the tombstone-covered graveyard full of skeletons that rebuild themselves. They're below the Covenant of White guy, past the Crow down the hill. If you find a giant skeleton standing up in front of you, it's right there.

There's also a big-rear end two handed sword in that area.

Okay, dumb newbie question about the tutorial section so I'm not going to spoiler much of the question.. I suspect all three of these are connected, though..?

When you reach the tip that tells you how to use backstep/roll, over to the left there's a broken stair with a body containing loot, on top of it. How do i get up there?

I noticed the first time I was playing the game yesterday when I got past the cannonball on the stairs and the guy right behind it, that some player fell down to where I was fighting the (first time you meet two at a time, with a archer behind them near the plunge-attack message) sword skeletons, and though maybe that was someone who'd found how to reach the loot I mentioned in the first paragraph..

Is there a way to get through the locked door past the first heavy-shield skeleton right in that same area?

Just try it, retreat, heal, try again.

It's awesome cause you can't already do that effectively by just hitting back+O, so i really appreciate it. Thanks From! I wasn't trying to kill that armored boar. I was just trying to get him down to a sliver of life and let him stick his tusks up my rear end in a top hat.
Why are you holding back when you hit the back-step button? It's actually called that. Also, using backstep then quickly attacking does different attacks, and gives bonus souls for killing a dude with it.

Created a sorcerer because I'd not tried any magic poo poo yet, and plus I really, REALLY want to get a boar helm so I'm going to keep making characters until one of them gets that loving helm.. :arghfist::(

Where/when can I get more spells? What's the damage of sorcery spells based on? I've mostly been putting points into my physical stats right now so I could wear a hollow shield and wield a winged spear.

Also I figured out that you can kill the one-legged demon pat the parish blacksmith easily, if you've got 100-150 arrows and a short bow.. When you enter the room, move forward and left (about 10 or 11 o'clock from the entryway) and there's a pile of rubble you can stand behind, that will block his blasts.. Your arrows sail over the rubble when you've locked on to him, and he'll never, ever move position, just keep firing bolts at you like a tool. (I got sick of trying to melee him down.)

Finally, ho do i deal with those big golem dudes in the forest? One of them cast some sort of godawful slow-down spell on me, and I couldn't do a loving thing about it.
