Ugh, I've been trying to enjoy some invading in Demon's Souls in anticipation of that awesome Forest Covenant, but everyone just quits immediately when I invade. Cowards! What are you doing on 4-1 if you don't want to pvp? :P

Hm, seems as though it's my connection. I did so much fiddling around with my router trying to get stupid Space Marine to stop showing that glitched Open whatever message that I think I broke my Demon's Souls multiplayer :(
I hope this doesn't carry over to Dark Souls. I have my PS3 as a DMZ, UPnP is enabled, isn't that all that matters?

The starting classes look considerably fancier now, assuming that the art in the wiki is similar to what they'll be wearing in the game. I cannot decide between the Warrior, Knight, or Bandit.

I'm usually more of a knightly dude, but man that bandit looks kickass.

Has anyone seen anything like the scraping spear yet in Dark Souls? I'm doing another run of Demon's and there is really nothing worse than running in to some no skill turd ruining you in a first run and having him destroy all of your poo poo. What a stupid weapon.

Seriously, I hope they took that poo poo out. That and acid cloud. I had one clown tell me that he was using strategy to beat me by destroying all my equipment and then one shotting me with that luck-based sword. Come on man, that's not strategy, that's grinding.

If you didn't see it coming I can see how it would be a pain in the rear end but I've never had someone successfully use either Acid Cloud or the Scraping Spear on me. They're both pretty poo poo really.

The spear is hard to avoid due to how fast it attacks. It doesn't do any damage, but if it hits you enough, you can't do any damage back either. And they can just switch to another weapon. The cloud I've only seen used once by a guy who would utilize the lag to backstab me and then cast it while I was on the ground. Very irritating. He sent me a message after I grumbled to him about fighting with honor that said "u mad?" so I assume he was from here.

Yeah, I like to send dumb messages about video game honor to people when they beat me, just to see what sort of messages I get in return. I don't bow or anything like that. That's dumb. My favorite thing is to ambush people with groups of other enemies. For some reason, the other night when I was invading people, none of them had opened up the fog door on 4-1, so I was forced to fight them normally. It was disappointing.

For people who have the game, how does invading work with the new open world? Do fog doors appear like in Demon's Souls, cutting off other levels? Or can you run anywhere?

Good luck dude. These games are brutally hard with two hands, so I can't imagine playing them with one. I think your best bet is to use a two-handed weapon and pump Strength as much as you can to increase your swing speed. I used the Great Sword (the second largest sword in the game) for the entirety of a Demon's Souls run, and it works well once you get the timing down for all of your moves.

Most of what I've found is too heavy for me or seems more physical oriented..I haven't changed any of my gear at all. I just upgraded my buckler to +1 and I have a cling ring I think.

Forget the buckler, grab a heater shield at least. Shields that block less than 100% physical damage are pretty useless.

I wish they would've answered my questions about equipment and the little icons under the health and stamina, but there were too many other twits twitting about.

I'm so drat excited about this stupid game. Tuesday can't come soon enough. There is a lot of variety in weapons, someone said, but how about armor? I was always disappointed in Demon's Souls lack of varied armor.

Well, only at first, eventually you will get good enough and gain enough levels that the enemies in many areas will be much less of a threat. You will slowly move outwards from the center, making a bigger and bigger area that you are comfortable moving through, until eventually almost the whole map is like that. That was my experience with SOTN as well.

SOTN didn't really have areas where I thought "Let me come back here later, these enemies are too strong." I just kept fighting through. Is that possible here? I mean, I expect to die a lot in the process, but I don't care about that. And there is always NG+ for a whole new level of challenge.

Yeah, I tried to get Gamestop to sell early even though they had a huge poster that said 10/4/11 on it. Didn't work. I'd think you would need to go to a mom and pop type store to get it early, rather than a specialist place like the 'Stop. I just preordered it instead. Prolly will turn in Demon's Souls and Deus Ex to help with the cost, since I won't need the former and the latter was a huge disappointment.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned so far is that spells in general seem to get more bang for the buck.

There is longer cast times and limited uses but harder hitting spells. They want you to use a spell and have it be well placed it seems. Also some spells have a "resonance" feature to it. The more people that cast resonant spells in an area empower spells for everyone.

Resonance is only for miracles, I believe.
