So my gold account thingey expired, can anyone tell me please how i'm gonna be limited now in F4? I'm not doing any multi at the moment, but I assume rivals mode is off the table?

And, what happens to my storefront? Will it be gone and inaccessible or sit there till I get gold again or what? I'm kinda hesitant to get live again because I'm a little short right now, but I don't wanna give up storefront use :(

Back in trackmania, I made a course which required you to hit a mile of boosters followed by a half pipe that, if used correctly, landed you back on the track going in reverse at which point you needed to slam into reverse to keep enough speed to go through a loop and continue the course. It was kinda like a J-turn only on the horizontal axis.

Anyway yeah a goddamn track editor would be great, even a simple one. Racing games right back to the megadrive had track editors. I'd even be happy with just being able to make your own benchmark track layout.

Ideally I'd love something that perhaps treats the track like a spline in 3d modelling: each segment has its own width, camber, height and curvature. Perhaps the issue is that people would create replicas of unlicensed tracks?

Never again, I complained about this one before actually. Its useless to me and its like 2pi too high for the lower class yet nowhere near good enough for the higher class. So except for specific "this car only" races its useless imo.

The mini hit its 50th anniversary a couple of years ago. So now some of the kick-rear end models are having theirs, I think This year is the Cooper, which would make for an excellent reason to put one in a pack.

I imagine T10 know the Mini is wanted and perhaps even wanted it in themselves. So I guess theres some underlying reason as to why they don't.

After reading more about this pack, I'm now interested in the Holden and the Polo. First dual-charged car in the game I think? Be interesting to see how they handle the upgrade menus. Perhaps they should make dual-charging for everything because goddamn I want my Camaro to have even MORE boost.

And the Holden, by the sounds of it, uses that fancy magnetic suspension? I'm interested as to how that holds up in-game too!

Pubbie racing for me ends up with me finishing 10th/last place usually, a combinations of pubbies being better/more agressive drivers than I am, plus they often have the "best" car for the track.

I've noticed something quite common in pubbie racing, almost everytime the guy who wins is driving something modern in black with blacked out windows and black black black with forza aero front and back.

Sometimes fantastic things happen, such as the guy who was at the front of a 4-5 car pack drifting constantly all across the road untill one guy got sick of it. In the middle of a (quite good) drift, he just nudged the guys back end with the gentlest touch I've seen and the guy span off to infinity.

Good pubbie raching technique is for the first 2-3 corners brake early and stay in complete control so when everyone else slams into each other you can weave through the debris and find yourself in a good position. Happens most of the time.

I'm kinda torn when I race online, because bonnet-cam doesnt give me a very good feel of who is around me (yes i use the right stick) but without bonnet cam I have this massive hood scoop blocking the entire right hand side of vision. But... to remove the hood? I just can't bring myself to do it.

Oh yeah and theres almost always the token "taking my 1800's horse and buggy for a gentlemanly stroll" in some classic at the back of the pack. He will always give you room and on no circumstances tolerate a risk of scratching his paint.

My god that was excellent. D-class racing, I'm mid-pack with a lotus Elan and a Golf neck by neck in front, the Golf just punted the Elan off the track, no reason :(

Later on, they're back in the same situation, but this time the Elan managed to avoid his first attack then went in for an attack of his own. About 6-7 times that Elan smashed off the side of the Golf, not even a wobble. The Lotus drops back.

Then a straightaway, I'm hammering along in Supercharged Death sounding like cats in a dyson and he goes to ram me! I'm in a goddamn 79' Camaro that weighs a billion tons, so he starts pounding into me anyway! I slammed him back till he spun off.

Then what happens at the corner at the end of the straight? That cocky little Lotus zipped through my inside and took off with a bonnet full of bees. Like he'd been waiting the whole race :3:

There was also a guy who got into a massive rage and refused to race because he was in a leaf and 2 other guys had been slagging it off as a leaderboard car. I swear, somehow every round with pubbies is completley differant, yet exactly the same...

Oh yeah, I decided to take you guys advice and let others fight a little to pass me. No blocking or dick-moves, but I was kinda sick of slowing down or pulling aside just because they demand the racing line.

He came flying at me from a corner (basicly he didn't brake, instead just trying to torpedo me) but as he launched at me a mustang pulled upto my left side and like a newtons cradle the mustang got punted off the side, hope he didn't think it was my fault :(

http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3441773&userid=129750#post396887036

Its pretty much like Sunday Punch said, break it down into basic shapes. Don't be afraid to use shapes as placeholders either if theres a complicated bit you can't do yet.

At the risk of sounding a bit cheaty, you can also take the image of the vinyl you're wanting to make and put a grid over it. Like in the Forza editor theres 4 gridlines in hight and 8 wide or something? Basicly taking the grid from the editor and laying it over your image so you can better figure out where things should go. I did this when making the elephant for the Karma Coffee logo and it helped alot. Because you can basicly see "oh yes, there should only be a quarter of that circle showing in grid X" and correct accordingly.

Also consider if it doesnt have to be 100% dead-on perfect supreme. Theres times where you'll have to decide between using 3 layers or 30 layers for something, sometimes its better to sacrifice some quality if it means keeping the layer count managable. I know my old rust-decals in F3 could be a hundred layers deep, I remade them in F4 and most are between 10-20 iirc.

I accidentally figured out that by shrinking an image down to nothing flips it.

Another similar tip, if you need to mirror a shape or collection of shapes, put the vinyl on one side of a car, then select "copy vinyls from left/right side" and it'll flip your vinyl group around. Then you save the mirrored vinyl and import it into the editor.

Another advantage to working on a car rather than the editor.

Speaking of which I just had a brainwave. Rather than settling on the editors poor grid layout, I could have just made my own grid using shapes and made the vinyl directly on a car! doh...
