Buying in bulk will also reduce your costs if you learn to bake bread, make pasta, etc. Granted, there is a labor investment which seems significant if you find cooking stressful and not joyful (hint: the difference is alcohol), but you can live higher on less if you do your own fabrication. It really is fun to cook before passing out. Too bad it's never fun to do the dishes.
