Is it a bad idea to run a torrent client on my router following the directions here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Transmission_daemon

I have a Linksys E3000 if that makes a difference.

Set this up and it is working beautifully so far. It is smart enough at default settings to prioritize the non-torrent traffic so the effect on bandwidth is minimal. Good stuff.

I need a bit of help with my wireless network. Using a Linksys E3000 running "Tomato Firmware 1.28.0000 MIPSR2-104 K26 USB Big-VPN" by shibby I am only able to hang around 130 Mbps according to the Windows 7 network connection status. Transferring files from my IONITX-A-U(connected through ethernet) file server I can only acheive real speeds of 2.59 MB/s via a 5Ghz wireless-n only network onto my laptop. The laptop has a Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 card with the newest drivers from Intel and the router is no more than 30 feet away through one floor. I am trying to get channel bonding working but I don't know how to make sure it is in fact working. This is frustrating me because I can download things as fast as my network can transfer them, anyone have any ideas?

What router could I get that would handle full duplex gigabit? I had an edgerouter x and was considering the edgerouter 4. I do have unifi uap-ac-pros so would it be worth going with a usg to streamline that? I'm contemplating going with at&t fiber which is now available in my area.

Be aware that you have to use AT&T's dumb residential gateway with their fiber service. The Arris (?) BGW210 will let you use it as a bridge with a different router and that works fine, but if you're like me, and are stuck with a Pace 5268AC, you'll be boned. Google "5268AC DMZ plus" if you'd like to read about the problems with it. There are ways around using their residential gateway that have been mentioned in this thread but you'll still need to keep the RG around.

A fun side note, I'm paying for the gigabit service now (was 100/100) and I'm only getting 400/500 while wired. Not sure if it's because my laptop dock is USB3 or if it's the dumb 5268ac but I haven't really felt like troubleshooting it.

Good to know. Looks like there are a bunch of trucks to get around the gateway.

I'm not completely tied to ubiquiti by any means, and looking above it seems that ubiquiti might not be that great. Is there another lower prices router anyone could recommend? Is there a cheap way to build my own low power pfsense box?

I've got a buddy who just got ATT fiber with the Arris BGW210 gateway. He wants to setup a Google WiFi mesh behind it and found the following link which he thinks explains the options with this gateway:
https://forums.att.com/conversation...27251541#M29310

Anyone else using this gateway to passthrough to their own router? I was thinking he should put it in Paasthrough, select passthrough manual mode assigning his Google router's MAC - as far as I understand, that kills DHCP on the gateway and would allow his Google router to handle all the DHCP and NAT without doubling up. Thoughts? (Trying to help him via text due to corona-cation is annoying)

Edit: reading through some of the comments on that linked page seems like there is significantly more to it. F'ing ATT...halp!

Take a look at this:

https://github.com/aus/pfatt

This will allow you to bypass the gateway for everything but authentication.

If you want to get fancier, you can extract the certificates from the modem using instructions found in here:

https://github.com/aus/pfatt/pull/19

And then use the instructions here:

https://github.com/aus/pfatt/tree/supplicant

To remove the gateway completely. I think this could have a big effect on speed though if you have underpowered hardware.

My HP Procurve I got off eBay a year ago has a couple ports that only negotiate at 10/100 no matter what I do. I’d like to get a warranty replacement under their lifetime warranty, anyone done this? Doesn’t look like I can initiate an RMA online, I have to call into their 1 support first.

Bought one off reddit that had non working PoE and the only difficulty getting it replaced was convincing them I had a business. They even replaced it with a newer model.
