Malifaux is great. For someone who has no desire to collect hundreds of little identical plastic soldiers, a game where you can buy a box of pretty ladies to paint is fantastic. Teleporting showgirls around the board is fun, pure and simple. I've bought some other crews for demos, and when I get the Viks and the Ortegas painted I plan to apply for Henchman status on the Wyrd site.

Painting a few models at a time is good for slower painters like myself.

The game requires a fair amount of terrain, but that's easily provided with a box of children's building blocks, a farmhouse playset, and some chalk.

What do people use for transporting their stuff? As you don't usually need more than a dozen models you'd think it'd be easy to cart them around, but my Nephilim are of such varying sizes that it's hard to find any one thing to contain them all easily without being huge and bulky.

Make sure you have a look at the changes Wyrd made to Nekima on their forums. http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=25470

For carrying my crews I use a KR Multicase cardboard briefcase-type box filled with their MX-1 Malifaux foam trays. It's certainly not small, but it fits my four crews along with their laminated stat cards, the rules manual, the third rulebook, some balsa wood walls, whiteboard markers for drawing deployment zones, and several tape measures.

I ordered the book, Rail Crew, Metal Gamin, Rail Golem, and Beckoners. I was hoping for a slim chance that the Beckoners might be Showgirls, but I guess I can still use them with the Pandora crew I got for my birthday.

Now I have to stop myself from getting all the other Neverborn stuff too. Card shenanigans are mega fun, and Jacob is calling to me... but my housemate already ordered him. Decisions, decisions.

Ok last update for tonight.

The physical build is just about done, but I will be adding details, I got a few packs of the Malifaux victorian accessories and lamp posts, I think they will look good, I will also add room clutter like book shelves, desks and chairs.

This is really nifty. I like the bricks; Hirst moulds you said? How easy are they to make/use? And the plaster on the walls inside is a nice detail. :) Reminds me of my childhood dolls house.

If I ever start making a table with houses on it I am going to end up going all out with ridiculous things like hanging curtains on every window, I just know it.

The succubus is going to be a proxied Shikome for if I ever run two. If I ever get around to playing Kirai at all, that is.

Rail Golem rocks. He's my first ever test subject for using plastic glue, using liquid greenstuff, and even using sand and flock on a base. The tokens are for Mei Feng's scheme. I made seven, the minimum required to cross the board, but I may make more if she turns out to be as fun as she looks.

I covered up the crappy woodgrain sculpted on his foot with some dirt.

And this month I'm going to do my Metal Gamin and a proxy for a Canine Remains. A hacked up Mantic Throwing Dog with some greenstuff gets a spine and ribs, and a pretty bow to paint pink for the month's theme.

Updates from the Kickstarter:

Gaming Room pledges ($225) now get a Hanging Tree! This accompanies their Santana that got unlocked a couple of days ago.

Also, the Fatemaster Screen and pad of Character Sheet goals have been hit. The Character Sheets are going to be designed to look like immigration papers, with graphics and stamps and things, and folding up to make it even fancier.

A second puzzle was posted and solved within minutes. I just finished translating the whole thing:

"The Statement of Lucius Crow.

The name's Lucius Crow. Who and what I am doesn't make a whole lot of difference, but this might be my last chance to make a mark on this stinking, cursed world, so I plan on taking it. I don't know how long I have or how much of my sorry tale I'll be able to commit to velum, but the sun's only just gone down and the screaming is only just getting started. You'll forgive me if my writing isn't the fanciest, this place, by which I mean Malifaux, not the damp, blood stained cell I'm currently residing in, gives even the strongest man the shivers.

Fact is I've seen stone faced killers who would have murdered their own grandsires Earthside soil themselves upon spying their first walking corpse, or go stark crazy on hearing the whispers of the Neverborn carried on the night time winds. I admit to having had my nethers shrivelled more than once by this sorry city, but I can tell you one thing, sure as the two moons rise each night.

I love this city, fates curse her. She'll be the death of me, but I love her."

One thing that came up when I first introduced the game to my group; if someone is using a normal deck of cards, go through it and make sure there is only one red and one black joker. My opponent didn't believe me when I realised he had gotten two red jokers in the same turn, as if by magic! (He actually didn't believe me; as new players we were kinda rough about keeping track of everything. The only way I noticed was because each joker had a different little cherub on it.)

Edit: I just found this on the Wyrd forums http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?38825-Custom-Fate-decks

New fancy custom fate decks and scheme decks from the Through The Breach podcast people.

Any Australians here interested in splitting shipping costs? It's $25 for an international box, but that can fit 6 to 8 decks.
I'd be interested in one fancy deck and one scheme deck (with upgrade), but doubling the cost of the cards to ship it is too much for just me.

Prices:
$12 - 2013 TTB Fate Deck
$10 – Scheme Deck (Book 1 to 3 Strategies and Schemes)
$2 – Scheme Deck Update (Book 4 Schemes)

So Wyrd Chronicles Vol. 5 just came out, and it has something very interesting, starting on page 42: rules for running an extended Malifaux campaign. The way it works feels very similar to blood bowl - your crew can get permanent injuries and deaths, you gain money each round which you can use to buy new units or upgrades to your existing units, and your crew carries over between rounds. It all looks very cool to me.

Ooooooh they didn't mention that in the email about it! I'll have to have a look at it for my uni club.

Last year when I made an order from Wyrd during Gencon they were giving out free Miss Terious models to orders over $100. I got my Miss Terious box, and inside was a Miss Terious card but a Santana sprue. I contacted them about the error and they sent me another Miss Terious box with the correct model inside, but let me keep the Santana sprue. I've finally decided to sell it, and have put it on ebay a few days ago. Unfortunately I haven't had any bidders yet, and I'm worried that I was too optimistic about the price. Have any of you encountered people selling Santanas? How much do you think they are worth? And does the lack of a stat card make it worth drastically less?

I really dislike the new mannequin sculpt. The first thing anyone is going to see on those models isn't cool sword arms or fancy dresses. It's mannequin boobs. The most prominent feature of the sculpt, apart from the creepily like-a-real-person legs and torso are the unnecessary stitched on breasts.

The original mannequins I loved; they were obviously fake, clumsy, but had fancy dresses to paint and hidden usefulness. Now they're some sort of dancer that happens to have robot arms and prominent chests?

I'm disappointed.

I played my first 2e game today, in the form of a 20ss Henchman Hardcore.

I chose Cassandra, a Performer, an Essence of Power, a Rail Golem, and Cassandra's defensive trigger.

My opponent brought Francisco, Santiago, the Lone Rider, a Wastrel and I think an upgrade too?

I won 7 to 3, as apparently there's a cap on possible points, so my final turf war point doesn't count.

I think I want to get the Ironsides crew if it ever arrives here in Australia. I can do that 'spend $60, get a Johanna' thing.
