The_Doctor posted:Oh awesome, one of my favourite threads is back! I've been meaning to hit up Meat Liquor since it opened.. Maybe tomorrow. It's pretty drat fantastic. Amazing burgers, massive portion of chilli cheese fries and great cocktails. I'd reccomend getting there for an early lunch though, the place fills up quick and queues get massive, fast.

Help me GWS! I need somewhere to take the missus out tonight, prefereably anywhere between finchley and central london, or anywhere in central really. The only qualiriers are: Preferably under 30 a head Not asian food (I've been driving her spare cooking it all week after doing a mammoth chinatown shop) I'd personally prefer something like tapas..

Thanks for the replies so far, I've also had a reccomendation for Iberica on portland street and Pix in covent from the spanish people in work. ..though the thought of braving covent garden on a friday night relatively sober is kind of daunting.

Meat Liquor does a good Philly Cheesesteak, but the queue can be brutal. Burritos are absolutely bloody everywhere in London now, with my pick of the bunch being Benitos hat and Picante in victoria, the latter run by an expat californian who knows his stuff. Never did get to any of those tapas places yet, though thanks for the reccomendation, girlfriend 'forgot' about her lactose intolerance and had a cheese sandwich at lunch, results less than pretty.

Theres a place near victoria that does a mean burrito, and contrary to that article, it's run by a guy from california. (Picante) Definitely on the fast food end of the spectrum, but then that's all I really want from mexican food. They're right about the portions being smaller than in america but, uh, thats all cheap restaurants, it's half the reason there aren't as many fat fuckers here. Good chance you dont like Mexican food Neris, nowt wrong with that.

Very salty but endless meat, not sure if I'd go sober, but it's monday morning now and I'm still full. Had DimSum at Leongs Legends for sunday lunch and, while it's not the best I've had in London, the price is incredibly reasonable, and the staff were less grumpy than normal...

Walked in just after 7pm, they took my name and mobile number so we could go find a nearby pub, they called about 1 hour 15mins later when our table was ready - really good system for popular places like this. Bodeans Soho does this and it's realyl handy. the only downside is getting so smashed in the Jon Snow you forgot you even meant to get food. Went to Tonkotsu on Saturday, to make up for general tube and weather related misery. Really good food, but 11 quid getting two slices of porn and half an egg on your noodles is pretty miserly. I could live in a bath made of that broth though, SO piggy.

So I went to the Steak and Alehouse (And the Bell, which was nice, quiet pub indeed) Food was good enough but couldnt recommend it being anything like the money they're charging (I had a travelzoo voucher thing). Really good Steak and competent Treacle tart, but the Grvadlax starter was miniscule! As a "bonus" me and the missus got terrible pimp skitters the next day from the meal, grim scenes.
