FWIW there are many different brands of stand up, many of which are totally regional. NY VS LA, INSULT VS ALTERNATIVE, LIBERAL VS CONSERVATIVE, BALCK VS WHITE Also, many stand ups are funnier as actors, or funnier as talking heads, or are better vice-versa, etc. Personally, I think that a stand-up routine/act should only be relevant to the physical room they are playing to. I know that (since Red Foxx IMO) stand up records have been popular but you really need to be loose and/or drunk to really appreciate the jokes. I feel it's a relic that requires a live audienceto be truly appreciated.
