Paul F Tompkins is free of irony. He dresses that way because it makes him feel comfortable.

Don't turn this into a hipster debate, it's been done to death and you folks never win. Why does PFT (or anybody) pursuing his esoteric interests and aesthetic taste upset you?

Kaptain K posted:Disingenuousness as a tool for comedy bothers me. The best comedy is sincere and genuine in my opinion. That's fine, but I assure you the dandy suit and coifed hair are sincere and reflective of his own personal tastes. Just because somebody doesn't perform in jeans and a dirty hanes T doesn't make them disingenuous. If you like sincerity I highly recommend his You Should Have Told Me special/DVD. That one may be more up your alley than his absurd/riff based stuff.
