NoEyedSquareGuy posted:There was a counter-rumor to the open secret saying it was a practical joke in the comedy circuit to accuse comedians of jerking off in front of women, and CK was just the most recent person accused of it essentially at random. I don't know how widespread it was, but people are inclined to believe hand-wavey explanations like that if they find out one of their heroes is accused of something like this. Notaro bringing it up as a serious issue and CK's refusal to answer any questions about it after the Weinstein story broke had me thinking he was going to face a reckoning sometime soon. Yeah, I was thinking about it yesterday, hours before it got 'out' in the media. It's weird how long things like that can linger on without people caring too much. About that, how come family guy had that kevin spacey joke a decade ago? I don't really follow the news about these things, but I suppose there were rumors too then?

It's kinda interesting to listen to 5+ year old albums of stand-up comedians (it's all spotify has usually), and listen to jokes they would never do anymore.

I was excited to see some new posts in this thread and hoped for some recommendations. Turns out we're arguing about vaping. I guess I'm just as bad as I don't have any recommendations. just listened to an album of Kyle Kinane, which was ok, but nothing spectacular either.

I’m listening to a mort sahl compilation. It’s great to listen to political stand up in a time when Kennedy was in power and the Cuban missile crisis was about to happen. Also kinda sad how little stand up evolved. He has an airplane/airport bit that’s pretty good. And appart from the somewhat sexist remarks about air hostesses sounds fresher than the million guys that used it after him.

If you like frankie boyle, the third 'episode' of his podcast Prometheus is just his new show recorded live in Glasgow. He does a little CK joke, too.

For gently caress sake this thread. Please somebody recommend some comedy (Not bootleg Ck). I’d recommend something, but I’m having a hard time these days finding something good. I’m listening to the freshest stuff I can find on Spotify, meaning 2014 stuff. Wish I could find a James acaster set or something for my flight.

Heh, just got this in my mail box: ------------------------ Louis C.K. is coming to Belgium THIS MONTH PERFORMING IN BRUSSELS ON MAY 28 Louis C.K. will be trying out new material in just two weeks time, at La Madeleine Brussels. XXX Adults only. Six-time Emmy Award winner Louis C.K. has released over eight stand up specials including Shameless, Chewed Up, Hilarious, Word - Live at Carnegie Hall (audio), Live at the Beacon Theater, Oh My God, Live at the Comedy Store, and most recently Louis C.K. 2017. Louis is the creator, writer, director, and star of the Peabody Award winning shows Louie and Horace and Pete. In January 2015, C.K. became the first comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden three times for the same tour. ------------------------ the organizer, Livecomedy, usually schedules big foreign names months, sometimes half a year in advance. The fact that they only announce it 2 weeks in advance must have a reason. Either he wasn't welcome at the originally planned country/venue, or they don't want to give any 'bad' press or protest a chance to get going. They're probably hoping people here don't know about his wankventures, which is true for the average person. But people who are into comedy do. And when an international comedian comes to brussels, guess what, 3/4 of the audience is gonna be expats. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't give a gently caress.
