I won't believe that Arino wasn't shooting to see Samus naked again in the Super Metroid Virtual Console special.

They had to cut GCCX to launch their gaming news exclusive feed, KOTAK CORE. Only video game news there. Anyway, I do hope you guys do The Wing of Madoola since it has a hilarious phone conversation between Arino and Kibe. The KOTAK translation is pretty poor if not down right insulting. Edit: Even if the KOTAK episodes are low priority, I would like to see them done one day with Tama-game and other segments restored. It doesn't feel right watching the show with them missing. It's kind of like the neutered versions of Top Gear that aired on Discovery before BBC America picked it up. Shady3011 fucked around with this message at 04:50 on Jan 14, 2012 |

Heran Bago posted:The WiiWare Bomberman is good. Look out for the xbox version. This game is like playing the original Bomberman except the original Bomberman came out 13 years before it and felt unique at the time. This game, on the other hand, throws everything out that made people love the Bomberman series the most obvious being the stupid art style. It doesn't even have local multiplayer. In fact, its stupid gimmick, First Person Bomber, isn't even in a first person view. Its in third person, which, limits your view of the field and adds a health bar. Great job, Hudson.

You don't exactly need an excuse to make a hentai game in japan. It had more to do with Telenet Japan trying to avoid going out of business than legitimately listing to some fringe fanbase. They really thought this would save them.

Dr. Video Games 0031 posted:At this point, they'd probably consider localizing a DS game and releasing it now to be unprofitable. They could very well be right. I don't know if many people would buy it other than hardcore GCCX fans, and there really isn't a whole lot of us. Xseed's expectations for the first game were ridiculous though. 100,000 copies for a game that only a small percentage of purchasers would know the source material for? I mean, this is the same company that put out that Wizard of Oz RPG on the DS and that was even more niche than Retro Game Challenge.

ImpAtom posted:You don't really need to know GCCX to enjoy Retro Game Challenge. I played it before I was aware of GCCX and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's aimed at nostalgia more than fans of the show. They should have marketed it better. I believe they were hoping the brand would make it sell more.

PaletteSwappedNinja posted:From what I recall, they were planning on releasing the game in tandem with a localised broadcast of the show, but the licensees of the show never followed through. That would make the most sense, but they should have revised their numbers when that fell through. In hindsight, hoping that the game would do well on its 8-bit throwback games alone was misguided.

Dr. Video Games 0031 posted:Revise what numbers? The game failed to turn a profit, that's the long and short of it. It not meeting their expectations became irrelevant once it became apparent that the game lost them money. If they were banking on cross promotional capabilities but the show deal fell through, then they probably did revise their estimates but they can't retroactively revise the budget for a project already completed or mostly complete. Losing money on it would come from sales expectations as that would dictate how many copies they would make. All this did was help Xseed realize how this niche market works. Let's be honest here, 100,000 for this game would be a lot outside of Japan. Very few niche games ever reach that number here in the west. I know for bigger game releases that's small potatoes (more like bad numbers) but not so for these smaller releases. I guess what I took away from reading about this game was that Xseed overestimated sales and learned from that with future releases. It's definitely helped them with profits as Corpse Party has shown. As for the numbers thing, that was me not remembering the interview correctly. It needed to sell 100,000 more to see the sequel get localized. So added to whatever it sold before that interview that is a lofty goal for this game. Compared to what they had put out before RGC I can't see how they thought this was a realistic goal. http://www.siliconera.com/2009/06/24/the-state-of-xseed-interview/ Sorry if I'm coming off as abrasive. I'm just surprised at how Xseed approached this release than any real frustration of them not localizing the second game. It's a moot point now as they seem more focused on PSP/Vita releases with other platform releases peppered in.

For me at least it has more to do with how much of the game he doesn't play. The AD clears 3 (4 if you count the Bottom of the Well) dungeons for him due to time restraints. These are all as adult Link. It's otherwise an okay challenge if a bit dull at times thanks in no small part to the dungeons he does tackle (Water and Shadow Temple).

It's considerably less trivial to find the torrents, unless you're good at reading English. Fuji TV was pretty quick at getting GCCX stuff removed from Youtube in the past. For some reason, they got really lax and let it reach the flood that doing a search for Game Center CX on Youtube brings back now. I'm guessing they've finally gotten wise to just how many people watch these videos on there.
