Can anyone confirm if the Yoiko's Desert Island Life specials have been subbed? I'd never heard of such, but someone recently posted screencaps on another board that would seem to indicate that they had... https://imgur.com/a/AObKZiZ fmuldoone fucked around with this message at 15:13 on Oct 27, 2018 |

Hekatonkeiru no Sentaku is another one worth checking out. Sort of a spinoff of Tokyo Encounter. It's only 8 episodes long and it's been fully subbed: http://anokoe.tumblr.com/hekaton

Just spitballing here since I'm not familiar with their terms of service, but (theoretically) couldn't a translator just upload subtitle files to Patreon and have patrons search out the corresponding raws on their own? That would seemingly get around the copyrighted material issue.

A question for the Japanese speakers who've watched the first Mother 2 episode; namely, did they give a reason in the episode as to why they went with the GBA port instead instead of having him simply play the Super Famicom version? Seems overly complicated in my opinion.

While we're on the subject of getting subtitles to display properly... I'm not very knowledgeable about encoding, but I've been using HandBrake to make hardsubbed versions of the GooseCanyon releases for playback on my older devices. The results used to be fairly spot on, but with the more recent releases the files come out with the subs off center and with the overlays all jacked up. I think the last re-encode I did that came out decent was "The Mysterious Murasame Castle"; all the subsequent episodes have given me issues. I haven't changed my settings in HandBrake or anything. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? Barring that, any suggestions as to other software I could use to make hardsubbed versions? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mosch posted:I use ffmpeg to convert all my videos. If you don't want to learn how to muck around with the command line, you can use this .bat file I wrote some time ago: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WBofpKKpfjUKZxi0ad1l507Hy2tBt2jh/view?usp=sharing I'll try it! Thanks for the tip!

Mosch posted:Plex needs a running server. If I hardcode the subs, I can watch the video directly on my tv with my pc off. Ditto. And thanks again for the FFmpeg tip; worked like a charm! This'll be my go-to method going forward. fmuldoone fucked around with this message at 17:29 on Jul 30, 2020 |
