Tanking things straight up with Terra is a pretty good strategy throughout most of the game, though you'll probably need to unlearn that after switching to the other two. ^Definitely agree on how the stories stand. It kinda reflects on the characters too. I mean, Aqua doesn't really get character development while Terra seems to be constantly learning something every other world like a saturday morning cartoon. Oh and, about the Final Mixes. I've heard they never got out of Japan because of a rule Sony has against rereleases, something along the lines of a game needing a specific amount/percentage of new content for them to agree to publish it or whatever. Anyone heard anything about this?

Wow. I'm literally dying of laughter here, because the plot is getting so damned stupid. I mean, all these revelations are freaking hilarious. (major spoiler) You know a series is getting messed up when time loops/paradoxes gets involved. Oh, and Xehanort wanting 15 clones of himself. Then again, I'm not in this for the plot as much as I am for the gameplay anymore... HGH fucked around with this message at 19:52 on Mar 31, 2012 |

They found another Bonus boss. It's completely stupid though, it's just a tough Dream Eater like in Days. What's worse is that it's a talking frog that just runs off after a while. Doesn't Disney have an abundance of actual talking frog characters they could have used? Also, here, have some climactic end game boss music. [e]^Indeed it is. Also, found out some more boss info. The Mysterious Figure from BBS is in this game, and is somehow even harder, in that he can reset the entire battle, up to the cutscene before you even fight him. Time Travel! V Oh, I see. I'm looking at things with 240p here and going off what other livestreamers are saying, so it's a bit hard to tell. Here, have a silly screencap. I was surprised by Traverse Town's themes though. I didn't recognize them at first, but they've been nicely remixed.quote:Also, what the hell is that weird chipmunk like voice in japanese in the beginning of Sora's video? (I'm guessing some weird additional program the dude playing has up) That's usually the way Japanese people censor their voices, from what I've seen of LPs there. Said voice also seems heavily associated with Touhou yukkuris. Also, seems Nomura has been giving interviews, and would you know it, it seems next game might finally, really be KH3. Or ReConnect. OR BBS V2. Whatever it is, it'll be the last one.

From all the massive spoiler battles I've seen, it seems to be handling itself pretty well. Even the very first two bosses have a lot going around all the time, but it doesn't seem to ever impair the gameplay or lag. Tutorial is pretty weird though. In that I don't think there is one. Soundtrack is pretty massive. Turns out that every single boss has its own theme, even the different Dream Eaters. Was gonna watch the secret movie, but Flash player crashed. When I refreshed, it said that Square Enix had it removed for copyright reasons. I wonder why? It's well beyond the release date. Also, latest interview with Nomura got translated, but here's a quote: Q-For you, what does Kingdom Hearts mean? A-I’m in my thirties. I understand he's trying to say it makes him feel young again, but the answer's pretty funny out of context. HGH fucked around with this message at 14:57 on Apr 6, 2012 |

The real final boss theme is a bit disappointing, admittedly. But most of the remixes for the important OC bosses are pretty cool, as always. What really surprised me is Traverse Town's remixed themes, The World That Never Was, which sounds much less repetitive now, and Tron/Rinzler's boss theme. I'm surprised at how powerful that last one sounds. And though it's nice for each boss to have its own theme, some of the techno-ish stuff for the Dream Eater bosses is a bit forgettable.

They did the same thing to some of the heartless in the previous Final Mixes. The Behemoths in KH1 looked like a bunch of Hot Rods because of their recolours.

So, given that you get commands out of your Neop- I mean, Dream Eaters, and you need different ones to get new commands, how quickly can you break the game over your knee this time? Is it like BBS' "Ragnarok, Megaflare, Time splicer, Sonic Blade by world 2" or a bit harder? This popped up in my suggestions lately. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYFxYJYDVTw It's rather boring and the commentator isn't saying much, but I find it odd and interesting to see 6 of the games across 4 platforms being played at the same time. It also reminds me that KH2 has the longest prologue EVER, and I can kinda see why so many people hate it. It just drags on for so long.

I'd like to say Riku's more of a magician, but that's probably because the few dark powers he uses are blasts and such I guess. I wanted to ask about the enemies. Most of the previous games had a clear progression, especially with Heartless and Unversed (less so with Nobodies). How are the enemies here? All of them seem to be pretty unique and don't really fall into a niche (like Shadow-Soldier-Large Body and the palette swapped magician heartless). What's the worst so far? Pegasi? Pandas? Stupid giant elephants from TWEWY that stunlock you and never let you do anything? Bats?

Just don't get the PSP Go, BBS was never released for online purchase so you'll need to get a good old WMD. DMW. DMV. Whatever those things are called. ^Jeez, I got a PSP 3000 for 200$ back when English BBS came out. Saved for way too long. Can't believe prices drop so fast.

That was a pretty amusing film. I remember when it came out and I showed it to some younger cousins. Nice humour, even had a pretty funny rendition "In the Hall of the Mountain King" at one point. I hear Versus has been pushed back yet again, or at least, it's been pulled out from the most recent conventions. I guess this means we have more spinoffs coming our way, though I'm wondering if it'll only be one or two more.

Generally speaking, the Absent Silhouettes should really be saved for later. Even the earliest ones you unlock are a pain. Heck, when you unlock the Larxene one, you can easily be one-shotted by her in less than 3 seconds. I think the only ones that are feasible as soon as you get them are Vexen's and Marluxia.

Yeah, I watched a playthrough of ReCom a while ago, and I was surprised to see they have actual personalities. It'd be nice if we could get them back in the party for the next game. Speaking of that game though, I'm surprised at how a large number of sleights actually ended up as commands in BBS/3D. Kinda odd to see these moves are as old as KH2.

I've been looking at DDD for a while and wondering what the big differences are. Guess there weren't many in the end, at least compared to the big gaps between Terra/Ven/Aqua (even if you just consider swinging speed). Though I think the higher strength favors Riku's Dual Links, since he's still attacking enemies normally. I'm not sure how it affects Sora's, since I don't think they use his own stats to calculate damage.

I notice pixelface (or whatever you personally call it) is still present in full force though. And here I had hoped they might have at least worked on that. Ah well. 358/2 Days somehow looks... cleaner than the other two though. I'm still wondering what a game actually developed for the PS3 might look like though. I doubt it'd be like this. Probably something more akin to a really colorful FF13.

Is it that hard to show restraint in BBS? I didn't get all those big tier commands till Neverland and felt the game was ok on Proud. Maybe I'm just crazy. For those playing 1.5HD Remix on normal difficulties, does the game feel rebalanced? I watched some videos of boss fights and they felt a bit different. Especially the final boss, who doesn't just spam his fullscreen giant explosion attack over and over again all the time now.

quote:Can't you skip cutscenes? I remember Kung-Fu Jesus getting through the intro of 2 in somewhere around a mind-breaking 30 minutes in his LP/semi-speedrun of the game just by skipping cutscenes. Pretty much all games have Cutscene Skip included now if you pause during one. The only previous exception was KH1 (which made Hollow Bastion incredibly painful and annoying), but even that changed with HD/FM. I think the real problem people have with that intro is that it's just a bunch of busy work separated by 3 ok boss fights. The enemies on the last day are ok as well, but just walking from area to area, going through non voiced (unskipable) scenes, and wacking balls out of people while doing tedious minigames can get grating for people.

So, apparently there was a KH3 gameplay trailer exclusive to some Japanese event. No videos so far. Japanese press described it as Sora fighting heartless and the Rock Titan in Traverse Town using Disney Land attractions and dual wielding guns. Yeah. Can't find a concise English summary anywhere so far.miscellaneous14 posted:I think the issue is that a lot of the game was designed before Flowmotion was implemented, and they figured they should add in some speedy way of getting around the environments so people wouldn't notice how empty they were. Which would explain why you still get legacy abilities like high jump, glide, etc that are totally useless considering the player already has Flowmotion. This seems like it'd be true, but Flowmotion was part of the trailers for the game for a pretty long while.

If it helps in any way, you can leave the deck of the ship mid fight whenever you feel like it and go save, or at the very least that's what it was like in the original release.

The problem you can still die at this point and maybe I just wasn't doing it right, but I basically had to play the fight losing no health (Which wasn't really a problem, I like doing that) to make it through the last part, it probably does not help I was on hard difficulty. Yeah, actually you had to time the hits correctly to not take damage. I don't know how to describe when to press A, but there's a certain rhythm to it almost. I know I've seen that section done with 0 damage taken by a bunch of people at least.

Don Gato posted:I remember actually skipping a huge portion of Monstro when I first played years ago. The save point on Gepetto's boat lets you leave, and I hated Monstro so I rode my gummi ship out of there and left Gepetto and Pinocchio to die. Going back was hilarious since everyone acted surprised at Riku's sudden betrayal, even though I had just fought him as Ansem already. It's not a glitch at all, it's supposed to be fully accounted for and the cutscene actually changes to reflect it (well, basically a single sentence I think). Although I remember you had to get High Jump first before leaving I think.

I always did like the Castle Oblivion part of Castle Oblivion. I know it was kinda generic white rooms but it had an atmosphere to it, mostly through the music. And speaking of worlds, I found out that the first two games actually had a bunch of dubs and significant localizations (surprised me because I figured it'd be too expensive). There aren't many notable changes but one had me laughing for a bit because they changed "The World that Never Was" to "Illusionopolis" in one of the versions and it sounds even more ridiculous for some reason. Do games still actually do different dubs other than original and English though? Seems like something they'd have stopped doing nowadays.

toanoradian posted:What was the bug? I fought him and I don't remember anything particularly buggy. It's harder cuz he seems faster and he had three times the health bars. Not an actual bug, he means the literal bug block enemy feature that was part of the game. As his health decreases Roxas'll cycle between different colors that give him different abilities, which are increased defense/health, super speed, double damage, and turning giant. It was basically a post-game boss found in Hollow Bastion. And then there was bugged Data Riku which is an absolute pain to even unlock if you don't have anyone who also owns the game. Who the hell thought that dumb feature up anyway?
