Love them very much. New album is catchy, concise and excellent imo. For a band that has been known to suffer from bloated track lists, it's a nice change of pace. No duds on it at all.

I've always liked some 1975 singles, but this album is the first one that I enjoy as a whole album. Very catchy and fun

Leah plucks instead of strums on a few songs. I was like 5 feet from her and just staring at her style of playing. It's crazy.

I went to two really great shows this week of up and comer indie bands. Don’t think I’ve seen them mentioned here so I’ll share and strongly recommend all 4 of their 2022 releases:

Well, made to Bournemouth to see Public Service Broadcasting and the gig had a very much 'end of a fourteen dates in seventeen days run let's just have it' vibe. Probably most surprised at the clean backing vocals on 'Blue Heaven' and the Queens Of The Stone Age-esque riff heavy outro to 'Spitfire'

I saw Luna Li open for Japanese Breakfast, and honestly, she was one of the best opening acts I've ever seen. She was already a confident performer, and it was clear she was going to go far.

These last two Arctic monkeys songs have been awful. Album shaping up to be a total turkey. I didn’t mind the nonsense lyrics when they were accompanied by music that isn’t audio ambien but woooooof. Hope one day they do something a bit more dynamic again.

yeah she's good. i think i like her jams more than her album material but the jams are just too short, so it evens out - both aspects are good.

she's coming to the UK next month but unfortunately nowhere in scotland so i won't be seeing her this time.

I love 60s/70s loungey vibes. I love Burch Bacharach for instance. I LOVE the Arctic Monkeys. Alex Turner and I are the same age and so I feel like I grew up with them so potentially I'll go on whatever journey they want to take me on. And what it boils down to is I do no want to hear the AM doing 70s lounge music because they aren't very good at it. I am not saying a band can't evolve but oof this not great.

counterpoint: it rules, and my only regret for the new album is that they didn't explicitly set it in the TBH&C universe by mentioning, like, a hovercraft or something at some point

edit- actually, just call the album The Hovercraft instead of The Car and have that same lonely rooftop album cover on the moon and i'd be good

I loved each one of the first five albums to various degrees. Their first album came out when I was graduating from high school so there’s been an album (or two) of theirs that corresponded to each part of my adult life. I love the band but it’s turned into something completely counter to what it was before. Which is cool! But it does not bring me peace

The Alex turner solo project with occasional pop ins from his old band mates isn’t what I’m looking for I guess. The last album had some good songs on it and the first single from this one was interesting but body paint and the other one are rough

Saw the Beaches over the weekend (with Hotel Fiction, who were really great live), and they were amazing as usual. Always a great live band. They said it was their first sold out show in the states, but Schuba's is a super tiny venue. We need more cancon in this country.

Also the next day saw Origami Angel with Pool Kids opening for them. That was some intense poo poo. Great crowd too.

I was lazy and didnt go when they stopped here last night. But I agree they are one of those bands that sell out some big places in Canada, but then come to a venue here that's basically just a bar with maybe a 100 person capacity at best. Its crazy to me how close borders vary popularity so much.

E- Also love pool kids. Last time I saw them was last Bled Fest in a school in a classroom. It was wild.

Austin was the last show in Pavement's US tour

Pavement were great when I saw them in New York. Malkmus was very engaged, the band was tight, and the crowd was excellent. I loved shouting "I know him, and he does!" during Stereo with the other middle-aged guys in the audience. The bonus of that weekend was that I saw Soccer Mommy play Pavement covers at the Pavement pop-up museum, which was a good bit in and of itself
