The lyrics are also really Not Good even by the modest standards of Arcade Fire, and when the music is largely unremarkable it makes the bad lyrics stand out more. I did laugh at "gently caress season five" though, a rare example of a lyric that was actually surprising and had personality. I'm disappointed. I love The Lightning, and I think the opening track is pretty decent. Maybe if I saw them played live I'd change my mind.

I'm a few days late, but I am really really enjoying the new Death Cab for Cutie single, though it is getting something of a pasting on the DCFC shitposting group on Facebook I lurk on. It sounds completely different to anything they have done for quite a while, but I can see why others may not like it.

I saw Orville Peck last night, and I was surprised at how diverse the crowd was. The bulk of the crowd was either millennial gay men, or young gen z girls, but there was also a good number of straight boomer couples who just plain enjoyed good country music and went into the city for a date night.

Amyl in Chicago was a weird show for the crowd. When we got there it was all people older than us waiting for the doors to open, which is unusual for us. It was also at this venue, Logan Square Auditorium, to which nobody had ever been. Grayhairs with like Circle Jerks and Bad Brains shirts it was wild. Once the place filled up though, everybody was there: 80s people straight out the mall from Stranger Things, a lady with a perfect egg-white fin and red plaid pants, Turnstile fans, a dude with bangs, Hodor.

I saw Jeff Rosenstock a few years back at LSA. It's a cool venue but doesn't seem to get a ton of concerts. Also they have indie wrestling there.
