My favourite local Vancouver band Dear Rouge have finally released their first studio album! These guys have put out a number of singles in the last couple years since winning a huge local contest called the Peak Performance Project (https://www.thepeak.fm), and this album is so good and top notch. They also put on a killer live show and if they're ever near you I recommend it!

So there is this amazing francophone indie artist in Québec called Cœur de Pirate and she recently released a new single which is great, and it's a big deal because she released an english version too which is quite rare!

Original french version which I prefer:

I'm also really into these new local band (Vancouver) singles too:

A friend of mine is a French major and said that for one of her classes they had to translate a french song. A lot of people did Coeur de pirate. I really like this song, as it's much more upbeat and poppy than her older stuff. New album out in August would love it if it was more of the same.

That's how I found out about Cœur de pirate in the first place too! It was French 12 though, not a university major. She's completely awesome, I love all her songs, I highly recommend people check them out even if they don't understand french!

I actually think the french lyrics bring more meaning to the song, when translated literally too.

I do think it's really lovely to put into a review for a concert though, and I hope that's what she meant, not the idea of her looking attractive to a male as being sexist.

This weekend I'm seeing Dear Rouge with Rah Rah in a small venue and I'm pretty pumped, but as much as I enjoy DR's stuff, I am only noticing an EP. I recall some others saying they were planning on seeing them as well, umm, what other material do they play?

Also at this point, I think I might be more excited for Rah Rah now. The Poets Dead album is really good.

Dear Rouge is one of my favourite bands, they have a full album now: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/black-to-gold/id963397175

Oh my god what a good show. The Tourist Company is an amazing little Vancouver band that I highly recommend, Rah Rah was utterly fantastic, but man Dear Rouge is something else. Danielle is so awesome, she works the crowd so well and is such a incredible performer. loving fantastic show. Dear Rouge - Black to Gold
Alabama Shakes - Sound & Colour
CHVURCHES - Every Open Eye
Zerbin - Darling
Whitehorse - Leave No Bridge Unburned
The Sheepdogs - Future Nostalgia
