It took a long time but I finally caught up to this thread. Found a lot of great music and it was fun seeing some of my favorite bands get posted by you guys . There's been some talk about international bands so I thought I'd do a little spotlight on some music from Central/South America that's caught my attention. New FJM video, this time for The Night Josh Tillman Came to Our Apartment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY37fixfN_A And a very Tillman-y quote to go along with it: quote:This video is partially inspired by the LeBron James quote "It is precisely the superficial differences between people who are otherwise alike that inform the hostilities between them" Also, a semi-related question for the thread. Is there anyone that does better stage banter than Misty? Seeing him live is almost like a concert with short stand-up segments between songs. bowser fucked around with this message at 15:56 on Sep 18, 2015 |

its no big deal posted:Where/how, other than this thread, do you all hear about new music? I want to bump up my discovery beyond just AM/Spotify recommendations and hearsay from friends/family. Facebook has pretty much become my music discovery site. I just like pages like the aforementioned Stereogame, Pitchfork, NPR Music, and KEXP. Or find their youtube pages and subscribe.

I'm not going to adamantly defend the kind of dude that shouts "Marry me" at a concert but I will say its something I hear at all kinds of concerts, regardless of the gender of the artist. When I saw BadBadNotGood a guy in the crowd repeatedly made vocal his desire to fellate Leland Whitty. Some girl told Josh Tillman to let her sit on his face. I think its just something people do to try and get attention from an artist they love. That doesn't make it okay but I don't know if I'd say this guy was being a horrible misogynist for his fake proposal or is deserving of hate from the Internet. Still, I'm sure Lauren deals with all kinds of assholes spewing sexist bullshit at her so I can't blame her for being grumpy. Also, thanks to whoever linked Superhumanoids in here. Loving their new video and the song it goes with. bowser fucked around with this message at 23:04 on Oct 3, 2015 |

Mitski's new album is coming out soon and the first single from it is pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_hDHm9MD0I Also, Mass Gothic's self titled debut album needs more love. Goes through half a dozen genres and nails em all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_8qX3hJjM8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19HUtPCYdNI

I know a lot of people find Dirty Projectors' style annoying but I think their new single Keep Your Name is worth a listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9tbusKyvMY Context: Amber Coffman broke up with David Longstreth and left the band recently. ------ Kishi Bashi's new album is all over the place in the best way possible. Huge step up from Lighght, and I actually really enjoyed that one too. bowser fucked around with this message at 22:48 on Sep 24, 2016 |

Pure Comedy is out (for real this time, not as a leak). I'm loving the hell out of it, although it probably won't do anything for you if you're not a fan of Tillman's previous work. Total Entertainment Forever, When the God of Love Returns There'll be Hell to Pay, Two Wildly Different Perspectives, and The Memo are the standout tracks to me.
