Hmm, would you put Beach House in this group? They have 3 very highly regarded albums, and their 4th is coming out, and people who have listened to the leak are putting it on the short list for album of the year.

Just wanted to say that I listened to these guys as a result of your recommendation, and they are extremely good! Are the other bands mentioned by JohnnyWarbucks similar in sound/quality? Any other bands of a similar genre you would recommend?

So the new Silversun Pickups album, Neck of the Woods, comes out tomorrow. It's up on their Soundcloud here.

I've only given it one listen so far, but I thought it was really, really good. It's a bit heavier than their old stuff and it's definitely a good sound. I need some more listens to really give a more informed opinion on it, however. I can say I am really digging Bloody Mary and Out of Breath, though.

Basically this. I don't really get why so many places on the internet go apeshit over them. It's about all I could read about for a couple days. I never really got Animal Collective, to be honest, most of their music just seems too disconnected for my taste, it lacks a distinct cohesion. Why? - Strawberries

Really like it, rumors are that the new album is a lot more hiphop/rappy like Alopecia but tracks like this really help make the albums much better.

This is a fantastic album, all in all. A very nice return to form after the disappointing (IMO) previous album. There are a lot of really nice beats and lyrics going on throughout this thing. I especially like "Johnathan's Hope" and "Kevin's Cancer".

^I've already got a good four listens on the new Death Grips behind me, and I'm thinking I like it better than TMS. I actually rather like the direction they've taken with this album and mellowing it out a bit, it makes it a lot more accessible and I just feel the music more easily. Though I think I'll need to listen to TMS again to compare, it's been a while.

And "Artificial Death in the West" is undoubtedly going to go down as one of the tracks of the year, it is simply fantastic.

The new Foxygen album, entitled We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic. You know it's gotta be great just from the title. Given how much I loved their debut EP last year, this was easily my most eagerly anticipated album in a long time.

It definitely lives up to the praise I gave it. They took their amazing modern-retro sound and refined it. I did have some problems with their first album in that it was a bit disorganized, but this album fixes all those problems. It retains the strong 60s influences with a modern twist, and loving rocks in doing so!
