Yeah, Grimes is really good. I checked out their album after hearing Oblivion on the radio (reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5H-YlcMSbc). Good stuff.

I didn't notice it until I saw some interviews of her. It sort of colors her overall singing too, even when she isn't θing. I think she consciously uses it to her advantage too, in that she's trying to sound childish at times (well most of the time).

Also, she just released a video for Oblivion, which is possibly my favorite track from Visions - either that or Circumambient. http://www.vevo.com/watch/grimes/oblivion/CA21O1200026 (:nws: some naked dude butt)

I dunno if the video works for me. I get the juxtaposition between her surroundings and the lyrics of the song but holy poo poo I just got to the end and it all works for me now. The ending really brought it together.

Grimes is officially my new obsession. Also I want to point out all the Dune references in the Geidi Primes track titles. And the title of the album for that matter. Fuckin

That's a great video.

I gotta CONFESS, I wish I could FORGET the new Twin Shadow album :rimshot: I just got into Mr. Lewis' work about a month ago, but Forget had been on constant repeat since day one,the inspired mix of new wave influences and the lyricism of the 80s was exactly what I wanted. Confess feels like it ought to have been the debut album.

Yes, it's very good. The Five Seconds single is song of the summer for me.

Hah, I was looking for a good summer anthem. I think that wins out.

As for me, I am so excited on the new How to Dress Well song, "Cold Nites". His last CD drove me wild and I loved every second of it. "Ocean Floors for Everything" was good, but this song just gets me going.

Oooh I loved How To Dress Well's first album. Will check out...

I didn't see the new "The XX" song posted, so here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nW5AF0m9Zw

I am a little mixed on this song. The song is fairly comparable to some of the stuff on their first album, but it just feels as if the song doesn't have the hook that, say VCR, has. But, there is still something appealing about it.

You can tell I am not a music critic.

It hasn't hit me and comes off as boring but I might have to marinate on it more. I LOVED their s/t though and it took a little while for me to get into that.

That's still one of my favorite songs on the album. Her other vids have been better.

It answered my question of what an idie Britney Spears video would look like.

You should definitely dial that back 1 station to XMU

XMU is the indie rock station, and the springboard for bands you'll hear on AltNation in 6 months.

Yeah I have Xm in my car atm and I'm gonna miss XMU a lot when the free trial runs out. Might just renew it for that. It's so good.

The new XX album got a 7.5 on pitchfork? Ouch. Guess I don't have to check it out :smug:

Just stumbled across something and realized that ten years ago Trail of Dead released Source Tags & Codes. I remember watching the video for Another Morning Stoner on MTV2 and being totally blown away.

God I love that loving record. Shame everything after was pretty wank.

Yeah, that's a really great album. There's no bad songs on it, everything works. It's weird to me that it's only 10 years old. Seems older or maybe timeless.

Beach House might be my new favorite band.
