How is the Nook Color as a rooted tablet? I'm most interested in reading comics/Kindle books, as well as playing some games and so on. I looked at the Kindle Fire but I wasn't happy with the size of the screen.

How well do they do graphics? In particular, I want to run GemRB: https://market.android.com/details?id=net.sourceforge.gemrb&hl=en Buy.com has them pretty loving cheap right now, refurbished: http://www.buy.com/prod/nook-color-by-barnes-noble-wifi-ereader/q/loc/111/listingid/140072914/221376447.html

Thanks, McLarenF1, that is exactly what I wanted to know. I use Comic Rack on my PCs and it is great - I'm sure the Android app is similar.

Mantle posted:If you just want a cheap 10" reader, I picked up a Le Pan TC 970 for $170 on sale at amazon.ca. Its specs are similar to the Nook Color and it's a 2.2 tablet as well. However its screen is an IPS panel with the same part number as the iPad 1 screen. I like this idea - one of the biggest things for me though is that I want Cyanogenmod support for the tablet. It seems that Android tablets are a case of having your cake or eating it - not both. Or dropping a ton of money on one.

I've been on the fence to buy an Android tablet for a while now, but I'm not sure if I should. What I want is an Ice Cream Sandwhich tablet that is 10 inches and can be rooted/run custom firmware. Does this thing exist or should I just hold out?

So I'm guessing the Transformer is the best bet. Is it rootable? Which one should I get?

More of a hypothetical tablet question than a just android tablet question - but is it plausible for their to be a hybrid Android/Windows 8 tablet in the future? As in one that can dual boot both operating systems.

OldPueblo posted:Yes my Acer W500 tablet running Win8 can also dual-boot Android 4.0 apparently. I don't care to try it but I've heard it's decent. Interesting, this is what I'm looking for. That tablet that just switches between Win 8/Android depending on if it is docked or not sounds pretty dumb, honestly. I like control.

What is the best way of getting one? I wasn't going to get one until the end of the month, if that matters.

Can anyone recommend some good eye candy widgets for a Nexus 7?

Alan_Shore posted:My up to date 2017 Nexus 7 was fine and ran like a dream up until maybe 2 weeks ago, now it too is sluggish, takes ages to open most things. I can't see why, I've not installed anything new and it wasn't rooted at the time (it is now). It also had a lot of space left. I'll have to factory reset it and see what happens. John Titor?
