Hannibal's ratings are also not as bad as they could be considering its in the Death Slot and it's a critical darling on top of that. I mean, it's still got a nonzero chance of cancellation, but that has less to do with the show itself and more to do with naked incompetence within NBC.

As an addendum to this, it's got this glorious surreal baroque-ness to it that a lot of similar shows try and fail to land, the murder scenes have much more in common with nightmares or fever dreams than they do with any sort of real murders and it's wonderfully, viscerally horrifying. My personal favorites are the mushroom garden in the first season or the guy who wakes up sewn into a corpse mural in this season's second episode as "oh god what the gently caress" stand-outs.

:stare: I tried watching the first episode and got bored but I think I'm going to have to give it another go....

The expendables is the cinematic equivalent of a bunch of ex pro-footballers in their retirement years getting together and going for a kickabout down the park.....nothing but a bit of fun by former masters of their trade.

I'm the first to think someone is being intentionally dumb when they mistake one actor for another on a movie poster or in a movie (people who couldn't tell the difference between Leonardo Dicaprio and Matt Damon in The Departed for instance), but that really looks like a young Sylvester Stallone.

Are you saying that's not supposed to be Stallone??? Because he was in that movie.

I love Rocky IV so much and I've never seen a poster give it so much justice. Really, the entire movie is a musical. I think there's 5 montages in the movie. There's about 40-70 lines of dialogue. It's easily the most underrated Rocky movie. While Rocky Balboa isn't amazing, it's a solid redemption for Rocky V - which commits the sin of being boring.

For those who haven't seen the Rocky IV montage - just take a look and marvel at it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q57qB6Kwroo - I would love to this but with movie executives trying to use CG over practical effects. (Drago is obviously CG)

On a related note - Merry Christmas everyone.

If you don't have the Rocky IV. Soundtrack on your gym playlist you're doing it wrong

Actually yeah, I guess the multiple uses of classic Christmas music and Christmas references totally makes Die Hard count.

But all that other poo poo is just poo poo that happened in November-January.

My personal criteria for what makes a Christmas movie is "Would I watch this movie in June?" if the answer is yes then its not a Christmas movie.

I'd totally watch Die Hard in June or any other time of the year.

He's decently funny, goes thru the plot so you don't have to waste time watching it and shows all the kills which is the only reason to watch that schlock.

That movie is insanely bad - so bad it loops to great.

Back in the early days of netflix, when they actually used to post you the DVD as apposed to the streaming service this was one of the titles I had on my list unfortunately the disc was shagged and i never got to enjoy the whole thing despite my attempts at fixing the disc.

Bio Booster Armor: Guyver was another one and it ruled. That was for some reason fairly accessible for suburban 12-year-old me in the 90's; they sold VHS dubs of that at Suncoast and similar. I didn't even know they made the live-action American movies until way after the fact, and wow did they suck. Then, several years ago, they made a new anime adaptation of Guyver...which also sucked.

Definitely still expensive as gently caress, though. Like $30+ for 2 episodes on a VHS.

Here in the UK it was one episode per tape I still have my entire set of them (The Celtic frost song in the MANGA VIDEO trailer is forever etched into my brain) as for the live movies I disagree, it’s gory power rangers with Luke sky walker and solid snake they’re goofy but still fun, there was actually a 45 minute OVA based on the Guyver that came before the 12 part series I think I have a VCD of it somewhere that I made complete with a photoshopped dvd case (it was in this case that I also used to hide my VCD of short porn clips because I knew my parents wouldn’t ever borrow it .....that may also still be in there )

What I’m saying is The Guyver ruled
