I'm having trouble being impressed by Lowengrin's DCG. As a dive bomber, every mission it sends me on either 1) fails before I can get off the runway, or 2) sends me into enemy territory with no escort. Is this normal? I don't want the DCG to generate suicide missions every single time.

Blistex posted:I found that the campaign generator did very much the same, but also would create maps where there would be a single column of tanks/trucks to destroy, and only a handful of enemy planes to defend them. Meanwhile I'd have my wing of stukas and we'd be escorted by 2x the number of fighters that the enemy had. One time my bombers were only a few km's from the enemy target while their fighters were all the way on the other side of the map. I think they actually ran out of fuel on their way back to their base as it was a very long distance for them to travel. Thanks for the reply. Another sort of related pair of questions, if you don't mind. 1) The dive bombing manual for the Stukas on mission4today has one of the steps as "adjust trim (red marks)." Which red marks in the cockpit are they referring to? 2) If there are clouds over the target you want to dive bomb, are you hosed?

Blistex posted:If there are clouds, I'll zoom in on the map as closely as possible and go through the procedure above (if icons are turned on). If icons are off, I'll get as high as I can, while still being able to see the target and do a 1/2 assed dive bomb, which is just diving at it and releasing as close as possible. I'm usually diving at a 45 degree angle if I'm doing it this way. Just aim your gun-sights a little behind the target and release when you are close. You should be going fast as well so your bomb still follows your path to a certain degree instead of instantly going straight down. Nothing is working. I'm about to give up with this. My bombs are always hitting behind the target, and sometimes they aren't exploding at all. I have my ju-87 reticle aimed right on top of the target for a couple seconds before releasing the bomb. It never hits. I wish there was an easy way to practice dive bombing, but I can't find anything that lets me practice dive bombing immediately, that skips the takeoff and long flight to the target.

Renaissance Robot posted:Is it the Stuvi sight or the regular reflector? Because neither of those are calibrated to send the bombs at your crosshairs. The Stuvi (in the last Ju-87 bomber variant, and the Ju-88) needs to be calibrated with your release altitude, and there's a little horizontal bar that will move up the sight as you dive. When the buzzer sounds, you drop your bombs and they will hit whatever was beneath the centre of that horizontal bar at time of release. The bar stops moving once your dive stabilizes, so it's not as hard to aim as it sounds, you just have to start rather high. Wow okay, no wonder I'm doing so poorly. How do I activate the stuvi sight?

Renaissance Robot posted:The Stuvi is always active in this game, there's nothing to do to turn it on or anything. You can actually see the on/off switch on the left hand side of the sight, accompanied by the text "stuvi ist ein" indicating that the sight is turned on; it's just part of the model though, and isn't functional. This is very confusing. I have been pressing shift-f1, I can adjust bomb drop altitude, but not the velocity. I never hear a warning horn, and I dont see a moving horizontal bar. I am piloting the German dive bomber, Ju-87. What on earth am I missing?
