Are either of them worth picking up? They're fun. LiN is pretty much one-and-done. DE has a bit more replay value because it is so action-oriented while LiN is more puzzles which... well, once you're done, the limited amount of randomization doesn't do much.

An odd duck of a game indeed. It sounds like it would be a lot better as a "pick it up for cheap in a few months" game but since it's online focused there's a good chance it would basically be unplayable in a few months. Welp.

I really don't see anything in her loadout that shouts 800,000+ points, and it's almost all japanese players. Is this one of those crazy japanese "use the worst character to make it a challenge" type deals? Excella has a melee move which turns her enemies into explosives and an excellent weapon set assuming you're good at not overshooting her gun. She's overall great assuming you've mastered how to use her abilities.

A shock grenade in the water does massive damage to underwater enemies, I'm fairly sure it's an instant-kill to anything fish-like. I just tested this myself to make sure I wasn't crazy.

I want the RE plot to keep going because I enjoy seeing the crazy ways they retcon or try to fit things together or whatnot. If they rebooted it, you would get the story of some dudes fighting zombies in the woods, possibly trying to be grim and serious instead of hilariously ridiculous. I'd rather have hilariously ridiculous.

Probably balance issues. RE5 was balanced pretty tightly and having an invincible super-partner tends to trivialize things in a bad way. Give Sheva a magnum with infinite ammo and you get a good example of it.

Ran through the RE6 demo. Leon: I just didn't enjoy this at all. Leon's Metroid: Other M-style walking at the speed of plot drove me batshit. It took for-loving-ever to get beyond the obvious foreshadowing plot point and I didn't get a good feel for how Leon's missions will play at all. I hope to go it isn't just a lot of slow-motion walking broken up by the occasional zombie attack. The zombies themselves seemed amazingly nonthreatening. I'm curious to see how they actually make them a danger. To be honest it reminded me most of Lost in Nightmare but with forced walking sequences. Chris: It was... okay. It was basically Desperate Escape made into a full-length mode. Very action-oriented. Despite the cover system, it feels like the best way to play Chris is to run at enemies and punch their faces in while bullets bounce off his seemingly kevlar-reinforced skin. Out of curiosity I forced myself to die here and noticed two cool things: Your partner will revive you if you're downed or so it seems, and there are special death animations. A Ganado (or whatever) jumped on Chris, held him down, and unloaded his gun into his face. Jake:This was the most fun of the lot, honestly. It's just a boss fight against a Nemesis-alike baddie but it felt the closest to RE4/RE5 style gameplay. I was glad to see that context-sensitive attacks are back in addition to always-available melee attacks. Exact same way as in RE4/RE5: Go for the head or knee, hit melee button while stunned. Seeing Sherry Birkin dropkick a guy is incredibly bizarre. It was fun, although it felt weird. It was like three different games running off the same engine, and I kinda suspect that's going to bite it in the rear end. I have trouble seeing people enjoy Jake AND Leon AND Chris. A lot of the mechanics felt weird. The new health system feels needlessly convoluted and the stamina bar feels so friendly that I'm not really sure it is much of a limitation to meleeing the hell out of everything.

quote:Resident Evil 6 will let players experience survival horror from a different perspective. Detailed in Famitsu this week, the game has a new "Agent Hunt" mode which lets you play as a creature out to attack the main characters. Sounds like a reasonably neat concept, depending on how it is pulled off. Sort of like L4D Versus Mode but moreso.

Leon's campaign so far is the only one I really didn't enjoy at all and that could easily have been a case of Bad Demo. Chris' stuff was weird but reasonably fun and Wesker Jr's stuff was a lot of fun. I suspect I'm going to enjoy RE6 even if it's not a good "Resident Evil" game. Agent Hunt sounds fun as hell to me.
