Shark definitely eats you whole, because that exact thing happened to me when I did my recent playthrough of REmake. Didn't even see it coming.

redreader posted:I'm playing RE4 on PC with my ps4 controller. It works fine with literally every other steam game. I'm getting problems when I press trigger and square (x on xbox) to stab the first guy, it opens my map half of the time and it stabs the other half of the time. of course in practice this means when I practice the knife it stabs and when I am in combat it opens my map.

redreader posted:Playing RE4 on normal: please suggest me which guns to buy / upgrade? Also, should I upgrade nothing until I get the correct guns? (1) Shoot all of the blue medallions in the graveyard/farm area before the first time you talk to the arms dealer. You get the Punisher handgun for free. It may be a better version or worth more money if you hit all 15 medallions; I forget. (2) Do buy the newer version of each weapon (starting with Red9 in the case of the handgun, since you get Punisher for free). Don't buy the first rifle. The only place where it may be kinda-sorta useful is in the first boss fight, but otherwise it's slow as gently caress and takes up a lot of space/costs too much money. (3) Avoid upgrading guns until you get the final version of each weapon class. (4) When upgrading magazine capacity on guns, wait until the magazine is empty before upgrading because you get a free reload. I think this also applies to the final upgrade for each gun; don't quote me on that though. This especially applies to the rifle/magnum weapons because their ammo is comparatively powerful and rare. (5) Do not buy the magnum/Broken Butterfly, because there's a place to grab it for free in the castle. (I'd have to look up a description for how to get it) (6) Don't buy the Killer7 magnum, because the fully tricked-out Broken Butterfly does more damage. On the other hand, it costs a lot of money to fully trick out the Broken Butterfly and you could spend that on other upgrades, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ A lot of people seem to hate the TMP, but I usually go for that over the mine thrower. The fully tricked-out TMP with its damage upgrade is pretty drat useful. The fully tricked-out Blacktail handgun owns too. Zugzwang fucked around with this message at 00:25 on Mar 19, 2020 |

I am legitimately jealous of anyone playing RE4 for the first time.

Welp it's clear from recent posts that I need to play RE4 again and try the tricked out Red9 and mine thrower, thanks goons.

I’m still trying to figure out how it is that Mr. X (and presumably Nemesis too, haven’t played the demo yet) are strong enough to punch through concrete walls and twist steel, but our beloved human protagonists can somehow survive being punched in the face by them.

I’m playing through 4 again and trying the Red9/(soon) Mine Thrower based on y’alls recommendations. Holy crap, even the first round of upgrades to the Red9 make it badass. Also, I’d forgotten how weak and helpless they made Ashley, especially compared to RE2make Claire. I just finished the chapter when you and Luis have to defend the village house. After the fight, I jumped out of the second floor window and ran off to grab ammo, and Ashley was screaming for help because I “left her” upstairs. Guess she doesn’t have stairs in her house.

Caidin posted:I dunno, with enhanced incentive to light his rear end up and no menacing stalking clomps hunting you around the map I think Nemmy is gonna really pale next to Mr. X even if he is more dangerous in general.

Caidin posted:That's sort of what helps make him scary though, if Mr. X could be pantsed for ammo and a better gun he'd just be a giant pinata you plan for, making him a complete resource drain makes me genuinely want to avoid him at all times and let's him inspire some dread. I found Mr. X terrifying in early playthroughs of RE2make, then just annoying (especially in B scenarios). It's been a bit since I played the remake, but I recall him being so durable that you basically couldn't drop him if you wanted to without burning all your ammo. (Infinite weapons notwithstanding of course.)

Kibayasu posted:If you mean does letting the crosshair close increase gun damage at least in REmake2 I believe it does not. I think I remember that there is also no damage difference between headshots and torsoshots on zombies but headshots will obviously stagger them.

X was also great because him getting his poo poo ruined by Birkin was one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time.

In the midst of a real-world viral apocalypse in which people still have effectively unlimited access to porn and ~sexy images~, gamergaters have moved on to being outraged that a fictional female character is wearing [slightly] too much clothing.
