It's probably not going to slow down until a week or so from now. Media coverage is just getting started. Kickstarter is a fairly well known site, and this just broke all their records.

It seems like they could raise $2-3 million.

It really isn't feasible for anyone to Kickstart a project based on an existing IP because of all the cost involved.

That being said I thought Planescape was filled with original ideas, I'd love to see Avelone make something like that again.
