I kind of want an AR-7 right now. All it would take for me to get one would be walking down the street to Walmart and asking to order one, but I can't think of any reason I need one. Not even "just because", since I already have .22 rifles.

But it's so cool.

it is decidedly ivery cool. it's light and handy as all hell, and it really draws a crowd when you take it apart at the range if you care about that sort of thing or getting people interested in shooting. Really a lot of fun to shoot.

Speaking of which. Now I just need a Webley .455, Mauser 1914, and the Roth-Steyr and I have completed the Richard Harrow collection.

Shouldn't be too hard. I see the Mausers frequently and the Roth-Steyrs relatively often. The Webley may prove hard, they just don't seem to come up that often for me.

Well, I just cancelled my order and called a bike shop to try out a better bike tomorrow. I'll fix my current one later on as a beater. I can definitely not afford another gun for a while. But I would like this, regardless:

The day after watching that episode I went down to the local and they were selling a target variant of the 1917.

I wish I lived somewhere that I could do that
However I doubt there is a rifle ugly enough to warrant hanging over my 40 year old coal burning fireplace, and if there was it would probably make more sense to put it in the fireplace.

I finally threw down on a Beretta 92. I don't have to pine anymore!

At first it felt weird and anticlimactic to own one after lusting for it so long, but a week of fingerbanging it nonstop erased that.

Not trying to be a jerk - what is the issue with wanting a 92?

They have all sorts of things that make them less than ideal for a service pistol, but they are pretty drat fun for the 99% of people who don't use their pistol to shoot living things.

If by max penetration you mean completely unacceptable (edit: for all commercially available loads, and FN is really pissy about reloads), sure. I think you've read too much marketing. Also, for a 1200 dollar gun or whatever it is now, it better have adjustable sights.

Well, for starters, the penetration is absolutely atrocious. As in "absolutely unacceptable for any practical self-defense use" bad.

The rest of your criteria could be met by a .22LR pistol which wont cost you $1200 to buy and won't cost $12 or so per mag of ammo. For the same price on a .22LR pistol could could get AMAZINGLY awesome guns.
