I am not so interested in more guns right now but I am quite in love with my rechambered and de-sucked Remington 700 and really want a super bitchin scope to go on it.

Definitely going to have to sell some stuff to fund this. Most likely the 3.5-10x Leupold I have currently will go regardless, hopefully I can get $400ish out of it since it's still in great shape, but if I can sell some other stuff like maybe even my first AR15 I'll be able to just jump straight into it instead of having to wait a while. And then the remainder would just be tucked away in the safe for slowly funding reloading stuff I guess. If I can get everything I can think of off the top of my head sold at a respectable price I should get almost $2k, so dropping half of that on the scope should have me set for benchrest stuff for a pretty good while.

So now I have to do gunbroker and poo poo to find buyers since almost everyone local I've gotten offers from in the past on other stuff have just been looking for poo poo to flip at future gunshows.

I've almost impulse bought a new 7.5" Ruger single six a few times now, but now I'm holding out for a nice-shooter-type unconverted 3-screw gun. The pawn shop and stores in this region all want north of $400 + tranfer fees for not-so great old-model single sixes, so I keep looking and wanting.

Pretty much want to sell the whole thing at once, it's my painted stag15. I don't really have small parts lying around anymore aside from a couple odd things like a spare buffer. If anyone you know in our general local area starts freaking out about 'Obama gonna take our ar15s' and isn't crazy again feel free to refer them to me.

I actually bought the last couple of thousand primers on mail order as well. From another EU country. This is no problem because only ammunition requires an importation permit. Not sure about powder though.

I understand that it's our closed registry and limited supply that makes nfa guns as stupidly priced as they are, but how do you get them so cheaply over there? Not even your regular guns are that cheap. Is it just because there are so god damned many of them? No one wants them? What's the dilly?

I'm being a little pedantic here, but the registry's not closed. Machine guns are added to it constantly. The limitation is on the transfer and possession of post-86 machine guns, not their registration.

Old surplus that is basically worth nothing, cheap to make to begin with, artificially limited numbers of potential buyers (cause they have to get all the paperworks).

I've wanted to build an AR-15 for quite a while. I have been planning and looking at parts and such and finally decided exactly what I want.

My intent is to built a AR-15 variant that will be used for target shooting at range. Like a sniper type rifle but based on the AR.

It will have a 24 inch fluted barrel. I'm still not sure about that stock but I have time. This will be a long term built. It's going to take me several months to acquire the parts I need and then I'll built it.

I'll need some good tools as well so if anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it. Feel free to PM me the info if you want.

You may even want to consider an AR-10 based build if you're looking to do long-range stuff. The AR-15 magazine well is a pretty big limitation when you're talking long-range performance.

I have read some stuff saying that 6.5 Creedmoor has the edge when fitting in a magazine. Also the name is cooler sounding and I like the options for preloaded ammo that I have seen. But really if I ever bought that rifle I would start loading soon after because it would be stupid not to.

Yeah, any decent gunsmith basically. Shop around some. Ask benchresters where they go. You can easily get a reamer from for example Pacific Tool and Gauge (good reputation) or maybe Sinclair (possibly even better reputation), then get a die set made along with chambering the barrel if you can find one that fits dimension-wise well enough to work when reamed out.

Won't be cheap, but good gunsmiths deserve business.

Dad has decided he wants this grand monstrosity, and yesterday was his 70th birthday, so there may be no stopping him. I can't decide if I love it or not yet. It's a fully customized Anschutz 1907, with a supposedly $4000+ exhibition walnut stock by Darrell Horsley (?), and custom gunsmithing by some guy in New England somewhere, I don't know. The seller has three fantastically built out target .22's on consignment from the same guy, this one, a custom Sako Finnfire P94S with a Fajen stock, and a Time Precision BR50 rifle with another Horsley custom stock, all with smith work by the same guy.

Well, after watching the auction go by last time without a winner, and then the relisting getting pulled shortly after going up, Dad bid on and won the drat thing this afternoon. For what it had to have originally cost, he actually got a pretty good deal on it (all things considered). It was more than I'd want to put into one, but way less than 1/4 what the parts would run you to build it new. Guess I'll be throwing a Classy Dad box thread up here in a week or so.

On a side note, I finally broke down and bought a CZ 452 Varmint to tear apart and throw in the BRNO target stock that formerly housed my UL action before I put it back in it's original stock. I wanted a Varmint, so I'd have the heavy barrel without a rear sight so I could throw a good sized target scope on there, and the used one I picked up has a cheap BSA 36x50mm included to use as a placeholder until I get something decent to throw on it.

Soiled Meat

I apologize if I am asking this in the wrong thread, but I want to start shooting skeet again, since the field is within a mile from my house.

I haven't owned a shotgun in 20 years, and would like some advice on a decent O/U and trap setup I can operate myself. (I run past this place daily and it's rarely used for bow or skeet... but there it is!)

I just want something that will be reliable and tight after a lot of pops, same goes for the trap.

This is just for shooting skeet, I don't have the patience for hunting and I prefer my 24oz framing hammer for home defense (old house, tight rooms, hard to misfire).

I want to say my budget is 1 - 1.5k for the gun, looking at the Brownings and Berettas, but not too sure about price range new though.

Maybe $250 for the trap?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. While I got my first 22 semi auto at eight, 12ga at twelve, my knowledge outside of general safety is pedestrian at best these days.

Thanks in advance.
