Anyone else here had Founders' Double Trouble IPA? Got a 4 pack and I'm on my third, at 9.4% the alcohol is masked really well by lots of hops and orange/pineapple citrus going on. Golden amber color, not much lacing, pretty well balanced, solid DIPA.

I can definitely see where you're coming from with the onion taste, I probably won't be getting this again. Not as good as a Double Wide or Hop Wallop, or even Maximus IPA to me

Drinking La Chouffe, a Belgian strong pale ale, and holy poo poo this is amazing. It's like the cross of a triple and an IPA. Better than Le Freak.

Getting in line at 5am ain't poo poo, just stealth a flask, have a friend or two and any other small source of heat, waited 14 hours in 30 degree for my xbox 360 but hey I'm a goon. Idk if I would really do it for a beer though. Beer: Ithaca Flower Power is good, ever since Kudos mentioned onions that's what I've been pulling from some IPAs :P, but I think that's just what citrus and hops taste like combined

Drinking my first Sierra Nevada. Heard good things about Torpedo so I bought a 12 and :15bux: is a great price for this well balanced IPA, and it's a nice 7% to boot. A+ would buy again

The most I have paid is $18.99 for a 4 of Duvel, although it was definitely worth it e: so I've been buying 12s of Brooklyn Lager/Party Mix and got a Westmalle Dubbel that I haven't tried yet for tomorrow. Their triple was very good. TenaciousTomato fucked around with this message at 20:37 on Mar 21, 2012 |

And the only barley wine I have tried was Weyerbacher's Blithering Idiot, which I was not a big fan of at all. I also really want to get into Lambics; I know there are a few styles (fruit/gueuze/others), any recommendations on where to start with these? Welp, this Westmalle Dubbel is all I have hoped it so be. Nose is a sugary caramel, fig, yeast aroma. Tastes amazing, hoppy to start, then quickly goes into a caramel malty taste with fruit and yeast. A drat fine dubbel. I've tried a few dubbels now, I would have to rank them: Rochefort 8 Westmalle Dubbel Chimay Red Ommegang Abbey Ale St. Bernardus Prior 8 Allagash Dubbel (sad this is this is last; love it dearly) Any other good ones I'm missing?

Any tips on how to serve this? Looked on google, someone said ~55 degrees, I guess I'll throw it in the fridge but not for long. Also got a 6 of Founders Centennial IPA which I haven't had in a while. Update later! TenaciousTomato fucked around with this message at 02:56 on Mar 24, 2012 |

Sculpin for me is $9.99 / 22oz. And I still almost bought 2 at a time. This Founders Centennial IPA isn't too far off from Sculpin however, very similar palate to me.

Had some Bear Republic Racer 5 last night, definitely the best IPA I've had besides Sculpin. And it should be for $12.99 a 6. Tons of aroma, fruity, hoppy and finishes dry. Want to drink this all day. TenaciousTomato fucked around with this message at 20:57 on Mar 27, 2012 |

Literally the best thing that happened to me today was finding a Racer 5 12 pack in my local store. It was $20 but, so worth it. I don't know if it's just me but for $5 more this stuff beats the hell out of SN Torpedo.

Across the country, Massachusetts Also got some Weihenstephan Original (lager) which was okay, tastes like a really good version of a light American lager, goes down great, but has nothing on Brooklyn Lager IMO (I guess they are kind of different). Does drain pour literally mean just pour out the beer? If I could add another rule to Socialist's, it would be, don't waste loving beer. Picked up another 6 of Nugget Nectar so it will be that and Chouffe Houblon tonight. Two of my new favorites for sure. I was also thinking about getting the DIPA from Mission brewery, called Shipwrecked. It was a 9.xx% ABV, looked pretty good. Any one have experience with Mission? Some great posts in here guys, fun to read everyone's perspective. Belgian beer is definitely why I got hooked. Before my first La Fin, the carbonation/yeast of Hoegaarden, (Blue Moon before I knew better..) made me realize there is so much more to beer than Heineken or Bud. I think tonight I'm going for a bomber of La Fin and a tough choice between; Rogue Oatmeal, Sam Smith Oatmeal, Cadillac Mountain Stout, Old Viscosity, or The Abyss. drat I have a lot of stouts to try.

Karmeliet is my favorite Belgian-brewed Tripel by far, then I would say Westmalle after that, followed by St. Bernardus/Chimay. American tripel: Allagash and Merry Monks like Calvin said. Long Strange Tripel by Boulevard is pretty good, and if you're looking for an IPA/Tripel combo: Green Flash Le Freak and my favorite, Houblon by La Chouffe.

Hugh Malone is the only special brew I have tried, wasn't too impressed. As for American quads go, I really enjoyed The Sixth Glass by Boulevard, has a complex but very drinkable palate and masks it's 10.5% well. Three Philosophers is just as good and The Reverend by Avery would be my third choice.

I was about to ask what a sessionable beer was then I read this, which helped a lot. I can drink a 10% tripel at 8 am and still enjoy the hell out of it, but I suppose my favorite session beer would have to be Brooklyn Lager. That article has me wanting to try some new, low ABV brews now.

Drank Sierra Nevada's Estate homegrown organic ale last night, and boy did it taste fresh. Almost too fresh for me, I have never had a wet-hopped beer before I don't think, and while it went down very well the aftertaste kind of tasted like soap/suds. Would not buy again
