didn't even realize this came out but FNF continues to update, releasing an entire new update where you can play as Pico(the newgrounds uzi guy) with Pico-style remixes of every single stage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeLHUd0xvGo&hd=1 I'm really interested to see the final product if they're going this hard for each character, and it looks like there will be 9 playable characters based on the locked slots on the character select screen. I also really like the intro to the Pico mirror match.

Sure enough, I felt like there was Something but it escaped me---also Good Lord has Dawnsbury seen quite some substantial updates since launch early'ish this year..

Jimbot posted:How about a dino "immersive sim"? Despite my hatred for the name of that genre, this game looks rad as heck. It has a vertical slice demo on Steam. It's really neat, albeit it's a bit too dark. 71 hours left on this. They're 1.5k away from their goal. Spread the word! Here is the demo I mentioned.

I assume that the 90's graphics trend is a cheaper way of making games, and developers aren't making games ugly just because.

A bit of both but someone did say that this aesthetic allows them to bang out a model really quickly, like 1 or 2 hours - it may have been quicker. But I imagine the texture creating is a bit more tough.

People are making games that look like PSX games because the aesthetic is cool and the people making those games (and the people buying them) have nostalgia for that generation of console hardware.

PSX aesthetic for an immersive FPS is a really strange choice given they were rarely on consoles.

Don't hold me to this but I don't think PC graphics were as good in the 90s as they are now. Also it is a blend of influences, like they're basically doing Dino Crisis as System Shock rather than Resident Evil?

Everybody wants to make a retro game, but don't nobody wanna code for some ancient-rear end console.

Disgraced developer of The Day Before, a game that bombed so horrifically they had to pull it from sale on steam four days after release, now gives a wishy-washy apology with vague promises to do better this time and starts a kickstarter for a new game that looks like some generic mobile trash: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fntasticgames/escape-factory It somehow has over $11,000 raised by 29 individuals so far. They're really not beating the scam allegations on this one. Dr. Video Games 0031 fucked around with this message at 05:32 on Sep 28, 2024 |
