Fallout Nuka Break Season 2 has surpassed the $100,000 mark with 20 more days to go. It appears they will get 200% funding ($120,000), and thus ensuring Chris Avellone and Tim Cain's contribution as writers.

Is season 1 worth checking out?

Is all that money coming from reddit or something. I mean this just sounds like a bad flash game.

How do people spend money on things like this I just don't understand.

10k to add achievements. How? Why? Who is going to play this game?

Clang just got funded.

Someone backed 10k at the end to push it over. Apparently they have a tier for custom made knives too.

Really looking forward to how it turns out. Even if it just becomes an engine for other games I think that'd be pretty cool.

No. I imagine the vast majority of people posting in the Games forums haven't worked in the games industry and I personally have no desire to. I'm posting from a layman's perspective and learning along the way. That is how discussion works optimally.

The person who mentioned earlier that a publisher does more than just package and ship a game taught me more than your worthless indignant post. I hadn't considered that publishers also fund the making of games when I made my original post, and now I realize that Valve would have to be more involved than just slapping Defense Grid 2 up on their storefront to be considered as publishing it.

For all your life you just thought video game publishers were the dudes who made the boxes for games?

Yeah it doesnt seem that any of the project locus guys have worked in the industry and I guess one of them is still learning how to program at college.

Their website says there are more than 3 of them, but it doesn't say how many more or anything.
edit: Oh the video says there is ten of them.

Fund our tech demo it's legit we have an artist.

It's weird to me that the Defense Grid team didn't have enough capital laying around to backroll a new game. And, honestly, if it gets to the last day and they only have enough for an add-on to DG1 (bottom tier) I'll probably withdraw my pledge, because that honestly isn't worth $15 to me. But I imagine they'll coast by $1M pretty smoothly, and I'd love some DG2.

I hope they can link the map editor up with Steam Workshop.

They're a studio with 32 employees. Not that surprising they don't have tons of money laying around.

Super Motherload which had a kickstarter put up a few weeks ago doesn't look like it's doing so well. 8k raised so far out of a 50k goal with only 17 days left.

I thought the game looked pretty fun and I remember playing through motherload when I was younger. Doesn't look like it's gotten much for media exposure however, so them making their goal seems doubtful.

Anyway a Planescape kickstarter would be excellent. I'd like to think though that even publishers nowadays could recognize the demand for such a game, but that might just be me being optimistic.

Holy poo poo dude. Some guy was wondering where the updates are you don't need to start rattling your saber in her defense.

Like literally a post on twitter is better than nothing. loving outrageous that people who donated money to her are expecting any kind of response on what's up with her project though. They should just be happy to send in money and well suck it up I guess.

I think a little entitlement is given due to the fact that she got this backed by kickstarter funds. Jesus dude a loving blog post isn't twitsting any arms or anything. Is it really too much to ask for monthly blog posts. Do I really need to check my privilege?

Like, first of all, if she had run off with the money, she could still tweet "working on the script" and you'd be just as hosed.

No one is making that argument though. If she misses a deadline without saying anything then that's unprofessional. Like it isn't something outrageous to expect regular updates.

The only thing that is being said is that she is handling this fairly unprofessionally. People shouldn't be expected to search through the loving kickstarter comments to find some kind of update.

I don't know why you're so keen on her not posting any updates at all. Just seems a really weird thing to argue for.

Is there a good list anywhere of successfully funded kickstarters and maybe dates when they released their games?

Would be kind of interesting I think.

The point of kickstarter is crowdfunding a project, not providing exposure for already-funded projects. If it's not iffy for these guys to use it that way, why is it for a larger operation to use it that way? No one wants to pay for advertising or market research if they don't have to.

Seems like they should have asked you then before starting their kickstarter.

I only read RPS for gaming stuff though so I dunno maybe it was known before the campaign went up.

I kind of hope he does what Ghost Song did when it reached a certain kickstarter goal: Hire additional people to off-load work too. Now I know that is not possible for all kickstarters (especially with large teams already in place) but for small/single person kickstarters it would be the perfect way to expand the project without stretching the original crew too much.

Some of the goals had hiring other people.

Good start though.
