And that is why the Haros are stupid in 00. In SEED they're harmless fanservice. In 00 they represent crazy powerful AIs that nobody ever exploits in a sensible way. The Haros are amongst the worst things in a show full of stupid poo poo. I hate the idea of adding a setting-changing thing as fanservice and then basically ignoring it. Aside from having Lockon's dumb Haro repeat his name over and over and having Saji replaced by a Haro at the end of 00S2. Fanservice bothers more more when they try to make it a plot point. (See also: ZAKUs)

To be fair though, 00 also has Quantum Computers which are all kinds of broken. Veda is so powerful that it continually predicts people's reactions to things with alarming accuracy and humans are fairly problematic to model behaviourally.

I always assumed the Haros in 00 were just computers that had specialised programs with a basic cutesy personality. The Haro we saw is there to support Dynames and then later the Red Haro acts as a support for the 0 Raiser. It's clear that the Haro can do everything that Saji can for the 0 Raiser, and this is a setting with Quantum Computation so I think the problem is more a sufficient justification for Saji's presence after its debut. And I think that's mostly because Saji wants to try and communicate with Louise again more than anything else.

I can't really see why the Haros specifically were a problem. All Gundam series essentially recycle the same plot for the large part, so having the consistent elements makes sense. Plus, mascots.

Oh yes, that guy...I'm not even going to spoil that name for anyone who wasn't seen the show or played Saisei Hen but it's pretty much a something.

I'm gonna go against the crowd and say ditch Kyrios and then jump on the Aphrodite A bandwagon.

Also heck yeah Gurren Lagann. It is so unbelievably broken, it wasn't quite W-Gaogaigar broken, but few things are. It did wreck poo poo fairly awesomely though.

Simon has worse stats than Kamina if I remember right, but I used him exclusively because I knew what was going to happen later on.

Yeah, Kamina generally has about 10 points over Simon in all areas at the moment.

Also, drop Virtue and Aphrodite A, because Kyrios is actually pretty good and I like Trider purely because of the combo attack it gets with Zambot 3 later on. WHAT SHOULD WE DO? I DUNNO JUST JUGGLE REALLY FAST.

Virtue's barrier is really good if you get some EN on Tieria and some armour. I always found Kyrios to be a somewhat mediocre attacker that needed Focus to really survive, whereas with a modicum of investment Virtue will consistently take 0 damage from mooks and tank boss hits like a Super.

I'll admit it starts off slowly, but by the end game it is seriously rolling like a bulldozer.

Also I never actually got up to his Ace bonus, but it is really icing on the cake.

Untrue Crystal is a pretty catchy and amazing song. A lot of the original music for this game is really enjoyable.

It's funny that Asakim is one letter swap away from Masaki backwards. Still the first time I played this game I found the SR point challenging. Gaiou hits like a truck and it's tough to build up lots of Will to do your good attacks. I learned how to use a couple of Seishin and features a lot better in this map!

I don't mind personally, as modding my PS2 is basically impossible, PS2 emulation is still not a perfected science and I had a PSP. So I could import and play this and Saisei Hen with relative ease.

As is mentioned the Zeuth units do much better in Z2 part 2. Although that said, Amuro's unit does quite well even in this game as it comes with everything and is a good base unit.

I don't think anyone is here for the riveting gameplay of SRW. I mean, I have fun with it, but the gameplay's mostly an excuse to watch animations.

This is admittedly the main reason I play the games. I've come to understand more Japanese and now fumble through the plots, but essentially it's a big theatre for me in the end.

Also adding my vote to not caring much about gameplay. Maybe when new and neat things come up mention them, but otherwise I'd be skipping over most of the combat images anyway.

The Flaming Soccer Kick is available if you switch out Apollo and make Pierre the pilot of Vector Sol. But that would involve not having Mugen Punch so why would you ever want to do that? There are about 5 possible pilot combinations for the Aquarion and you pick which set you want. The game doesn't let you customise who pilots what beyond that.

I could be misremembering, but I was sure that Pierre took Sol in Z2 when you could use it. I am sure Caphi can correct me if I'm wrong though.

00 Season 2 has the Raiser theme which is pretty decent and has a more dramatic feel to it, but that won't appear this game so there's not much point going on about it too much yet.

Well you know how Musashi does in Getter stories...

Still it's kind of weird as the Getter Armageddon story hasn't even really started yet. We're still in a long setup for the actual story which won't start properly until Rebirth.

I'm not sure anyone is prepared for Final Fusion Gurren Lagann. It would also get concerning once they reached Tengen Toppa Gurren, that would be a little bit too much Symmetrical Docking.

While I respect the reasoning behind the choice, I am very much used to it being Shin Getter and will still call it Shin Getter. There is a fair amount justifying it as being called Shin (True) Getter as well, although discussing it would be a little difficult without spoiling the plot for Rebirth.

SEED, some UC stuff, DX and Turn A are also all in the game the precedes this one since everyone seems to have forgotten that exists and it's not exactly spoilers now considering we've met series from Z1 and know it exists.

I had assumed that part of the problem was that the Earth made mobile suits were also inferior to the Plant made ones. I mean look at the Freedom and Justice. They're pretty great and just trample everything else under foot. Being super humans I always thought that the Plants were better at designing mobile suits as well as piloting them, which just cemented their advantage.

Yeah. Villains like him are always fun in crossover stories like this, where you get to see all the other heroes momentarily recoil because wow this guy's a dick! I particularly liked Kamille trying to get a Newtype Bullshit Magic Reading on Aim and just coming away flummoxed. I'm interested to see how this game ends - its nature as a part one kind of means it's going to be hard to make a satisfying resolution without just making the inevitable barrage of threats in the next game seem out of nowhere.

Endorph posted:

It helps that they picked a lot of series with clear 'first' and 'second' halves, like Gurren Lagann, Shin Getter, Code Geass, Gundam 00, etc. That way it makes sense to split the game up into two halves too.

Though Shin Getter's 'first half' is all of three episodes.

This is pretty much how it works. Stuff like Gudam Wing and Macross Frontier don't mesh entirely friendly with the other series which generally have time skips of varying degrees. The Gurren Lagann timeskip is going to be especially awkward to see potentially in Rebirth. That said most of the threats that lead into Z2-2 don't really come from nowhere. Most of them are hinted at or set up in advance, only one or two series really come out of nowhere.

Well you also have Gundam 00. Then the folks from Dancougar Nova and Daiguard haven't aged a day for example.

Gurren Lagann is just awkward because they achieve a civilisation more advanced than the rest of the world in about ten years.
