Has anyone tried the PagePlus plans recently? It seems like they offer viable plans for people that use a bunch of voice and text on the Verizon network along with a bit of data. (200 or 250MB of 3G)

Just out of curiosity, what would happen if you put a non-data sim card in a smart phone? If I put a T-mobile no-data prepaid sim in an older iPhone, would I end up with an iPod that can make phone calls, or would it be unusable as a phone?

Any thoughts on the phones beneath them from their new selection?

One thing that'd be worth knowing is whether your service area has or will be getting LTE any time soon. Granted, it's not as important on ting since you won't be using a huge amount of data.

P-tel could be a good choice for people in a T-mobile service area (they are switching from Sprint network to T-mobile). What distinguishes them from their competition is their pay as you go plan, which is targeted at low/occasional data users - not really what the OP was looking at. Ten cents per megabyte can be really cheap, or really expensive...
