me your dad posted:

I'm looking for more stuff like Chill Out by KLF. It has a very organic and natural sound. Don't take that to mean I'm looking for a "relax to sounds of nature" album - I like the trippiness of Chill Out, and I like heavily manipulated samples of conversations, speeches, and natural sounds.

I've always thought that "Chill Out" goes well with Gorillaz' "The Fall" and Deep Dish's "George is On"
I have all three albums in a local playlist (WinAmp for life), and it's pretty seemless.

For ambient groups / artists, I really like these people (some may go into downtempo and new age as well)

Erik Wøllo
I discovered this guy on nighttime radio here in Norway, many years ago.
"Spring Poem" from the 2001 album, "Wind Journey".

Øystein Sevåg
This guy was also discovered on nighttime radio here in Norway, many years ago.
"Rio Amazonas" from the 1994 album, "Visual"
"The Door is Open" from the 1993 album, "Link"
"The Mountain" from the 1994 album, "Visual"
"Horizon" from the 1999 album, "Pearl Collection"

Marco Torrance
Stumbled across this one at the glorious di.fm chillout some years ago. I love this album, "Reconstructed Moments".
"The Unequalled"
"Two Angels"

Gamardah Fungus
Was looking for some free ambient music to use in a video I made, and found this Ukrainian group. The track "Mental Anguish" from their fith album, "WHNZ:52:ERSO" (2012), is one of my favourites, and I keep coming back to it all the time.

Nacho Sotomayor
Found this guy back in the day when using some shady p2p client and searching for "Café del Mar", looking for remixes of the Energy 52 song.
"Café del Mar", from the compilation album "Café del Mar - Dreams, volume 1" from 2000, a truly great album to chill out to, like most of the songs related to that Ibizian bar.

Michael Meara
Heard this guy over on di.fm earlier this year, and I really liked it.
"Bloom" from the 2006 album, "A Cold Inner Sea".

Conelrad
A goon who made some nice and free ambient music. Was a thread in GBS 4 years ago, and I really enjoyed it.
"Up Periscope" from the 2009 album, "Sure is the Risk Made".
"Approach" from the 2011 EP, "Five Automatic Landings".
"Circle of Signifiers" from the 2007 album, "Function Creep".

Jean-Michel Jarre
We all know this French dude, and he has made music for many genres, including ambient.
"Equinoxe, part 2".
"Oxygene, part 4".

Suzanne Ciani
I have no idea what this song is actually called, all I know it by is "Windows Welcome Music", and it was the song you heard when you booted up Windows XP for the first time. Many people think it's by Brian Eno, but it's actually Ciani. I've been in love with this song ever since I booted up XP for the first time 12 years ago.

Verdego
"Deluxe", from the self titled 2004 album "Verdego". I don't know how I got this song, or from where, or anything about the artist / band, but I do know that I really like it.

I may or may not start on chill, lounge, new age and psybient at a later time.

I really like this album by Coil.

It reminds me of ambient, is it, or am I tripping?

Yeah, a friend linked it to me last night telling me I had to listen to it, so I did and it did not disappoint.

Just a question, does some of Burzum's music count as ambient? Like the album "Sôl austan, Mâni vestan" from 2013, or the song "Rundgang Um Die Transzedentale Saule Der Singularitat" from his 2005 album "Filosofem"? Because it sure as hell isn't black metal, or very metal-ish at all. Also Wongraven(Sigurd Wongraven aka Satyr of the black metal band Satyricon)'s "Fjelltronen" from 1995.

Yeah, it's not actually what I first think about when I hear Burzum. I do like it, though. Much more than his "usual" stuff. Just bought "Sôl austan, Mâni vestan" on 12", and it's wonderful. Only thing that irks me is having to get up to flip the sides or put on the other record when I'm all tranquil and blissful in my recliner.
